Colin Powell endorsed Obama today -- I don't have a link, but seek out the clip from "Meet the Press". It's quite an eloquent endorsement and a sound thumping of the Repugs and the campaign they're running.

Here's an article on the endorsement, & you can get to several video clips from here.

Senator Stevens is not making Alaskan politicians look very good (AP story):

Prosecutors say Stevens had a history of accepting gifts — including an expensive massage chair from a friend — and omitting them from the financial disclosure forms.

He said he considered that chair a loan.

"And the chair is still at your house?" prosecutor Brenda Morris asked.

"Yes," Stevens said.

"How is that not a gift?"

"He bought that chair as a gift, but I refused it as a gift," Stevens said. "He put it there and said it was my chair. I told him I would not accept it as a gift. We have lots of things in our house that don't belong to us."

Playing to the jury, Morris appeared confused.

"So, if you say it's not a gift, it's not a gift?" she said.

"I refused it as a gift," Stevens replied. "I let him put it in our basement at his request."

Oh, and Palin was actually pretty good on SNL. Or at the very least, she was a good sport.
The opening skit of 10/18 SNL, with Tiny Fey, Lorne Michaels, Mark Wahlberg, Alec Baldwin and the real Sarah Palin:

Took my pup for a spin around the block this morning. Didn't chastise him for stopping in the driveway of a house with a McPalin sign in the yard and leaving a crappy mess. I kind of cleaned it up.  ;)

A parody of an otherwise mediocre song, and the performance is kinda meh, but the reworked lyrics are pretty brilliant. Worth the watch:

This was really a treat.  (Their reworking of "Bubbly," less so.)  Thanks!

I like Biden -- I really do -- but he should stop giving soundbite material to the McCain campaign:

"And here's the point I want to make. Mark my words. Mark my words. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy. And he's gonna have to make some really tough - I don't know what the decision's gonna be, but I promise you it will occur.  .."

ETA: Any president will be "tested," and who's to say McCain wouldn't go for the button first and ask questions later, but this kind of quip could sway a lot of undecided voters who think no deeper than sound bite level.

Robo-call of the Week:  I got home tonite to hear a message from Roseanne Barr (!) telling me to dump Pelosi and vote for Cindy Sheehan.

BTW, in the wake of his Obama endorsement, I was astounded to discover that Colin Powell is 71 years old!

Gotta agree with you there.  Although I'm rather boggled as to what's going to convince anyone who's managed to be "undecided" up to now.

GOP bailing in Colorado, and Palin is sinking the boat nationally.
