BJ and the Boss -- no, it's not a bad sitcom, it's Billy and Bruce teaming up for Obama:

So I'm in Chicago for a trade show & got to watch a lot of TV tonight, including Olberman's Countdown & Matthews' Hardball.

Seems like Palin screwed the pooch in part II of her Katie Couric interview, a number of right-wingers are now calling for her to get off the ticket, McCain couldn't find his way off stage in Missouri, and to top it all off - Bill O'Reilly compared Nancy Pelosi to Hitler.

What a great day!

"screwed the pooch"? what's that? i can't figure it out unless "pooch" replaces "pup" which sounds like "up". i can figure out what "screwed" replaces.

or maybe i'm far away from the canvas bag.

From The Onion:

Quote
Despite insisting several times during the first presidential debate that he had never won the U.S. Senate Miss Congeniality award due to his maverick, no-holds-barred legislating style, John McCain was recently revealed to have twice secured the much-coveted congressional superlative during his four terms in office. "This just proves that Sen. McCain is not only willing to lie to the American people, but that he is also perky, helpful, and exceedingly amiable around the Senate," said MSNBC political analyst Keith Olbermann of the documents that have recently come to light, including copies of both award certificates as well as photos of McCain handing out freshly baked cupcakes to the Senate Subcommittee on Appropriations. "American voters feel duped. This allegation runs completely counter to the gruff and unpredictable rebel persona that McCain has carefully cultivated." According to a statement released by the McCain campaign, the senator deeply regrets misleading the American public in regard to his bubbly personality, but remains proud of his seven consecutive U.S. Senate "Best In Swimsuit" wins.

Paul Krugman in today's NYT:

"Unbelievable. Sarah Palin finished her closing remarks by quoting Ronald Reagan:

Quote
It was Ronald Reagan who said that freedom is always just one generation away from extinction. We don't pass it to our children in the bloodstream; we have to fight for it and protect it, and then hand it to them so that they shall do the same, or we're going to find ourselves spending our sunset years telling our children and our children's children about a time in America, back in the day, when men and women were free.

When did he say this? It was on a recording he made for Operation Coffeecup -- a campaign organized by the American Medical Association to block the passage of Medicare. Doctors' wives were supposed to organize coffee klatches for patients, where they would play the Reagan recording, which declared that Medicare would lead us to totalitarianism.

You couldn't make this stuff up."

Meanwhile Conan O'Brien's line of the week: "Sarah Palin thinks the Supreme Court is a regular Court with extra cheese"

I'm waiting with bated breath for the release of the new album by "Ahmadinejad, Kim Jong-Il and the Castro Brothers"! Out on DefJam Records in November!

"The Castro Brothers" would be a great name for a queercore band.

Great song I heard on KPIG this morning, not new, apparently, but NTM: Tom Russell's "Who's Gonna Build Your Wall?" Sample lyric:

We've got fundamentalist muslims
We've got fundamentalist jews
We've got fundamentalist Christians
That'll blow the whole thing up for you

But as I travel around this big ol' world
There's one thing that I most fear
It's a white man in a golf shirt
With a cell phone in his ear
You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round

yes, I've heard it too.  KPIG has become so important to me.  One of the DJ's was emceeing the Rooster Stage yesterday, and I heard Desert Rose Band thank KPIG as well.
