I did a blog post/YouTube playlist in response to last night's electrifying speech:

http://babyivebeenthinking.blogspot.com/
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

actually, the Pointers were at John Edwards' house doing "Betcha Got a Chick on the Side" ;)

But seriously, your blog has become a must-read, and one of the highlights of my day.

My first thought when I saw Palin was "she looks like Tina Fey doing a wacky character". I'm not alone, apparently:

Which has obviously got some paleo-Republicans in a tizzy. Yes, she’s on many McCain veep shortlists, yes she’s a charming, affable, and talented politician, and yes she looks sweet and innocent, like a perky librarian (are there perky librarians?), but Alaska’s governor Sarah Palin has a dark side colder than the icy tundra which she oversees.

Sarah Palin wants to kill polar bears.

Palin is also a Creationist, I'm just now learning, which will make for some fun debates.

This is great news for Democrats.

Is it? She has the potential to fire up the Fundies in a way McSame could not have done otherwise. Be careful what you wish for, etc.

She was also accused of firing the commissioner of the Alaska Department of Public Safety because he refused to fire her ex-brother in law. So it sure sounds like she comes with her own set of rather sizable baggage here.

I'd love it if this turned into an Eagleton sort of gaffe for McCain and the Repubs.
Let's get right to it.

But don't a lot of those Fundies also insist that women shouldn't be in positions of power over men?  Promise-Keeper-esque "submit to your husband" mentality?  I'd be curious to know what % of America believes a woman should not be President (a realistic hypothetical, given that McCain's 72 with recurrent skin cancer).

actually, someone elsewhere has already suggested she's a Harriet Miers-style straw-person (she'll withdraw in a couple weeks and he'll pick Huckabee or somesuch). The ex-brother-in-law apparently threatened to kill her and the kids -- classic trailer-trash stuff that Americans will eat up with a spoon.

the top-of-the-hour UK news on CG headlined it as "a former beauty queen who eats moose-burgers and is married to an Eskimo..."  LOL!
