If you haven't seen this yet -- props to Ms Hilton; I didn't know she had it in her. VERY clever:

the scary part is her delivery of her energy policy sounded more like she knew what she was talking about than Bush or McCain!
Don't stand in the way of LOVE!

I posed this question via e-mail to a few friends of mine, and wanted to solicit the POVs of any of y'alls who feel so inclined.

If indeed the right-wingers truly believe that Obama is some combination of Muslim terrorist, militant black-liberationist, Manchurian candidate, jihadist treasoner - then will Obama truly have the opportunity to lead the country if he wins in November?  Or will we get open insurrection from a not insignificant portion of the U.S. population?  I live in a left-wing bubble, I realize; the few conservatives I have any contact with are the mass-media pundits, the invective-hurling trolls on liberal and centrist blogs, and the occasional family member.  So I don't know how seriously real people take the accusations that are so thoughtlessly and carelessly tossed around by the more scurrilous and avaricious members of our media.

Thx,
Gaz.

Open insurrection? No. But FAUX News etc will be on him like white-on-rice, and it will be the Clinton years all over again, as far as they're concerned.

I think Mike makes an excellent point -- most of Obama's problems will come within the system.

As far as open insurrection, there will be wing-nuts advocating a more violent solution.  I know a few passionate yet not very bright "conservatives" that will talk.  But mostly it will be talk.  The ones that scare me are the right-wing crazy survivalist types, but hopefully the secret service already knows to keep an eye on these people.

One of my best friends is a true conservative (and otherwise a decent enough guy).  We've argued politics over the last 35 years, and now just agree that he's a Republican because he thinks Democrats are communists, and I'm a Democrat because I think Republicans are fascists.  He will not be among the radicals who call for open rebellion, but he will support the Repugnicans and Fox news when they try to tear down Barack politically.

The system is broken, but it's the only one we got.

I'm not making this up: McCain today received the endorsement of Puerto Rican Reggaeton star Daddy Yankee. Going for the 'rican teen girl vote, obviously.

Daddy Yankee's big hit is "Gasolina", which likens sex to pumping gasoline. Which gives new meaning to McCain's cries of "Drill here! Drill Now!" LOL!

Here's the text:

Quote
As an investor, I yearn for a president who looks to financial heroes, not corporate lobbyists, for economic advice. As a gay man, I yearn for a president who believes in equal rights for all Americans. But most of all, as an American, I yearn for a president that the world can root for and be inspired by. Because having much of the world on our side again would not only be good for our national security, it would be good for business. Vote Obama, my fellow Democrats. Because, boy, do we ever need a change.

And the vile Jerome Corsi is heading to the DNC tomorrow to discuss his equally vile Obama Nation book.  Should be interesting.

well, ya go where the press is. Hope The 'BCO morning guy has the sense to ask tough questions (like: " uh, you also wrote a book saying McCain's linked to the Mafia -- WTF?") but I doubt it.

Hey Princess, let's write a convention theme!  Cue the Intruders:

"I'll always love Obama, he's locked up my vote (you only get one, you only get one) ..."

It's quite the monkey wrench, actually: picking a woman in hopes of attracting the disgruntled Hilary-ites. But she's a woman with less experience than Obama. er...
