The rhythm track on this was way ahead of its time, imo. Also Best Vibes of Set.

BOS1, 2 & 3 to the Zeps, the 'Oo and the Brown Savoys.
Let's get right to it.

Prediction: this is one of those '69 sets that ends with "Someday We'll be Together". (Just a hunch)

That's like predicting this is one of those days that ends with it getting dark. ;)
Let's get right to it.

This set sounded kind of familiar, and I finally found the one it was reminding me of (but not the same one). In June we had a '69 set that also had the Tommy Overture and Beach Boys tunes, as well as a different Zep tune and More Today Than Yesterday in the place of the Foundations cut. Similar but with its own unique charm. Here's the setlist from June 8:

1. CCR - Commotion
2. Sly & The Family Stone - Stand
3. Zombies - Time Of The Season
4. Booker T. & The MGs - Hang 'Em High
5. The Edwin Hawkins Singers - Oh Happy Day (BEST OF SET!!)
6. Led Zep - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You
7. Who - Overture From Tommy
8. Beatles - Ballad of John and Yoko
9. Beach Boys - I Can Hear Music
10. Spiral Staircase - More Today Than Yesterday
Let's get right to it.

could've told you the answer was no, I was driving up from the SJ Gordon Biersch event at this point & recognized this set.  In fact it was played last year on the 3rd Friday of "Local Music Month".

1.) Led Zeppelin - Good Times Bad Times
2.) Doors - Wishful Sinful
3.) Who - Overture/It's a Boy
4.) Savoy Brown - I'm Tired
5.) Steam - Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye
6.) Tyrone Davis - Can I Change My Mind
7.) Jeff Beck - Plynth
8.) Beatles - Here Comes the Sun
9.) Foundations - Build Me Up Buttercup
10.) Beach Boys - I Can Hear Music

ETA: at the event I bumped into our sometime playlist expert Darryl.  He was there with his whole family, taking photos of his little boy getting autographs on a picture he'd drawn for the occasion.  Cute kid.

Dave certainly has his '69 faves that he rotates in and out. There was a time when "Plynth" seemed to be in every other '69 set, for example; Spiral Staircase has been coming on strong for the past year or so.

SS always reminds me of a comedian who used to do a parody of George Carlin: "Why do they call 'em stairs? Ya don't stare at 'em!"
