Mathew Broderic leading the band today...

And it sounds like '83 to me.
Let's get right to it.

Yeah, as if Madness was going to fool anybody.

I was just about to say that if Dave is trying to fool people, playing "See The Lights" in an '83 set would really do it.

But then he stepped in & corrected his error.

VHM Genesis "Just A Job To Do", which is surprisingly a bustout.

(everything else so far has been pretty Katrinafied)

Just a Job To Do is not making me remember '83 fondly. Big Country a little better, but only little. Would much rather hear Family Man or Break My Stride--any Rock of the 80s OHW would be welcome.
Let's get right to it.

Surprise indeed. It's a Phil song I like. I was into Genesis but then kinda disliked Phil.

Ooh, would LOVE to hear "Break My Stride."  In lieu of that, BOS to TFF, "Change."

BOS for both the R.E.M. and the TFF, both of which (along with Big Country & Genesis) were albums that I played over and over.  Ooh here's another one, a deep cut off of War.  BOS #3 U2.

ETA: posted that after the first guitar licks, this is actually off of Red Rocks, idn't it?  Had that & played it to death too, though.

Now all I need is something from side 1 of Labour Of Love, and Dave will have duplicated the whole turntable stack.

So far the REM and U2 tunes are most likely to get my BOS vote; Something in the Water isn't sounding too bad either, although I know we've heard it a time or two.

For as much as Dave plays this non-single, I really wish he'd dig into Prince's later work, especially anything from Lovesexy.  I haven't heard "Glam Slam" or "I WIsh U Heaven" in years.

"Something In The Water (Does Not Compute)" is one that I was turned onto by my friend Steve (the guy with the houseboat, Gaz).

This set has gotten quite a bit better after an inauspicious start.
