I like your presentation of his enunciation better.

I'm impressed with his off-rhyming of "little green apples" with "Indianapolis."  But I've definitely never heard that, and unless I've got my authors screwed up, the only Bobby Russell songs I know are "Saturday Morning Confusion" and "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia."

he also (unfortunately for mankind but fortunately for him) wrote Bobby Goldsboro's HFH "Honey"

I never noticed before that at the fade, Edwin Starr sees his baby "just across the bend."  Whoopsie!

I still think Steve Miller is a lyrical nimrod, but at least he hit a nice groove on "Space Cowboy."  VHM.

I hollered, "Don't listen to 'Space Oddity', Ethel! But it was too late -- she'd already been 'mooned'!"

TANC: "Little Green Apples" on WLNG at this very moment.  Another reason it was a big hit was that a lot of stations felt bad that his previous single "The Son of Hickory Holler's Tramp", wasn't as big as everybody thought it should be.
