Well, here I am in Humboldt County for a few days, and listening to KHUM not on the net!  Great Motown Monday start, hearing both Billy Stewart and GQ's version of "I Do Love You."  Sweet!

given the choice between Crapton's "Wonderful Tonite" on KFOG, and Queen's "Tie Your Mother Down" on the WMIR stream, gee, whuddya think I chose? :wink:

Day-um! Heart on WMIR with "If Looks Could Kill", a kickass track that's one if the few songs I liked from their excessively Diane Warren-ized Capitol period.  I don't think any of th 10@10s have played this one, but they sure should.

last nite the oldies show on KPOO was their annual "Baseball songs" show, everything from the obvious ("Centerfield") to the obscure (Teresa Brewer duetting with... Mickey Mantle!).  We heard a bunch of Giants theme songs from years past, including an hilariously cheezy disco tune from '76 called "Catch Giants Fever". And the wonderful Springsteen parody by "Bruce Springstone", a "Rosalita"- styled cover of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" that some people still think is really Broooce.  Great stuff, but I fell asleep at 11, so I don't know if I missed Steve Goodman's "A Dying Cubs Fan's Last Request".

The host said he has 19 of the 30 different customized versions of "Talkin' Baseball" by Terry Cashman (he played the Giants version).

a listener called Dean on CG just now to say the "extended mix" that he played of "Light My Fire" (he played the LP rather than the single) was "amazing" and that he'd "never heard that version before". This was not a youngster calling, this was someone who sounded to be about 60+.  Radio in the UK must've really sucked in the '60s... no wonder there were pirates like Radio Caroline!

with Bob's '67 set ending so early, I switched to KCDX and got a Starship rarity, "Rock Myself to Sleep".  I can't remember the last time I heard that one.

damn, KCDX is still using that CD of "re-recorded" Grass Roots hits.  Dude, the real versions are avail on Amazon for, like, 6 bucks.
