I think it'd be a great sound bite for 84

I think it'd be a great sound bite for 84 if Dave played the only-once-ever-aired-but-best-commercial-ever Macintosh commercial for 1984 -- because it was based on George Orwell's 1984.. of course it works better with the video but the sound-only version probably would be Ok.

Aw, Gaz changes his avatar & NOW Dave plays the theme to "Silver Spoons"

(I can't think of the actor's name now- but wasn't that guy in Silver Spoons, too?)

alfonso rebeiro, yes.

woohoo!!! wild boys!

actually it's Ribeiro, not Rebeiro.  (mshray is really on the job today!)

I never saw one second of that show, but the IMDb guest appearances list is impressive:  Sharon Stone, Matthew Perry, Whitney Houston, Erika Eleniak, Christina Applegate, Elizabeth Berkley, Gary Coleman, Mr. T, Jason Bateman, Ray Walston & John Houseman (the last three being regulars)

thanks. i used to live on "rebeiro avenue," so i can never keep it straight.

hmmm....

i'll have to find some 'silver spoons' on vhs or dvd so i can see yumyum sharon stone. i remember most of the other people appearing on the show, but not her.

the coolest thing about the show was the house. everyone wanted to live in a house with a train and a jukebox. well, i did.

YOU'RE ALL WORTHLESS AND WEAK!!!

Played for Dean Wormer, no doubt.

was he in that video too? I remember the other guy from AH as the kid's father.

Am I thinking of the "I Wanna Rock" video?  Or the wrong person entirely?

no, you're right.  Mark Metcalf (aka Doug 'shot-by-his-own-troops' Niedermeyer) is the actor in the Twisted Sister video.  Later appeared as The Maestro on several Seinfeld eps and as The Master on a bunch of Buffy eps.

BOS2 to Taylor Dayne's former "boyfriend".

Dee Snider?

And are you using the Thick Quotes Of Irony because she looked like a lipstick lesbian in the "Tell It To My Heart" video?

I'm using the thick quotes of irony because Every. Single. Lesbian. I knew in NYC told me they knew for a fact that she was a big dyke. Lesbians don't lie, do they? Besides Snider strikes me as the sort of right-wing glam-rock closet case who'd be a lipstick lesbian's beard.

And we end poorly with Wang Chung, a song that hasn't aged well.  If Ludacris covered it he could call it "ROCKS IN YA MOUF"

maybe i'm preaching to the choir, i dunno.

But you can go to images.yahoo.com, click on the Video tab, and type in a search for "1984 Macintosh" and download/view the video if anyone's interested.  It still sends chills down my back, even 20 yrs later...

Or I could upload it to the site here, tho its 13.1 MB.  Just an idea...

Ha Ha!

Hey Gaz, do you remember a funny that got distibuted around Schwab back in the day?  I distinctly remember getting it passed to me by Matt Kelly, it was a set of faux word problems called something like "Only in SF Math Problems"? Ring any bells?

anyway the one I remember best went something like:

Christine & Diana share a one bedroom flat in Noe Valley.  To celebrate their first anniversary they buy a Jack Russell terrier.  If the dog requires two walks per day and they live 2 1/2 blocks from Duboce Park, how many hours per week will they spend discussing their relationship?
