by all calculations, john just lost 20 cents with that airplay.

I'm so glad this stuff is coming out.  Allegedly, among the albums that have never recouped are TLC's "CrazySexyCool," Mr. Mister's "Welcome to the Real World," and the Backstreet Boys' self-titled debut.  A sickened and often sickening industry, the music biz is.

john said he was driving around manhattan once with a couple of playboy bunnies - probably around 1979 - and he looked up at the displays in times square to see a gigantic poster promoting the babys album. he scratched his head, and thought, "whose idea was that? it must have cost a fortune!"

the band still hasn't paid off that bill.

There should be a law against playing "What a Fool Believes" in the same set with a song that sounds just like it.  Cornier than Nebraska.

Good god almighty. This is it, alright.  Too many people saw this as a call to arms (as in, "Nuke Iran") for me to remember it fondly.

My thought exactly. Except for the BOS to Kenny part.

Anyone care to bet that we hear some Toto before the set is done? Dire Straits? Love to hear some Ramones, but not betting on that one.
Let's get right to it.

Can I relate this story to another mailing list I'm on that directly addresses these kinds of issues?  I think I can make John's tales part of a larger and more effectual dialogue.

Wow. "This Is It" would have to be the Wimpiest War Song Ever Written. But, hey- those were desperate times, right?

WOS, Rockpile.  Literally unlistenable: I'm off to lunch.
