Beej, I really want to propogate the term Irish Greg used:  Coldplay & their ilk are "Sad Bastard Music".

Rod, I really wish Mike wasn't a RegularGuy, because then I could respond, "How can I in good conscience flame someone who's already flaming?"

But he's not really flaming so I can't really respond that way...dammit!

But Mike, here's a list of my usual suspects in the Coldplay-clone lineup.  All these guys are from the UK & I honestly can't think of any that aren't.  Maybe you can.

Well, yes, they're Brits. My point was, you don't have to be British to go into a studio and recreate a sound. (It's less about lyrics than about melody and instrumentation.)

Mike, I love ya like a brotha, too.  My initial point wasn't so much that only Brit bands can mimic Coldplay, but that maybe you didn't realize how different DCFC really was from them & if you did you might not make that judgment.  Then you suggested that there are plenty of non-UK bands cloning themselves after Coldplay & as far as I can tell it really IS just a UK* thing.

I hope that satisfies Rod's craving for a flame war.   :wink:  :wink:

*includes Northern Ireland, tho.

ETA:  I just realized after posting that why Rod wants a flame war.  He wants to see my cleavage every other post!   :shock:
