The Herd (?), "I Don't Wan't Our Loving to Die", from '68.  New to me.

Listening to Capital Gold today for the first time in ages, while I work on some Voice scribblings.  Tuned in just in time for MJ's "Beat It," and I must say, it's refreshing to deal with MJ unironically and on a solely musical basis.  If he wants to rehabilitate his image in the U.S., really, all he needs to do is a "hits" tour.  Not co-write a benefit song with a sultan.  Why does he not get this?

Because he's living in a fantasy world.  He's beyond help.

Yes indeed.  Elements of this set really reflect what 1980 sounded like to me.  And I do wish people still wrote and performed songs like this today.
“The choir of children sing their song.  They've practiced all year long.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.  Ding dong.”

Hope you stuck around long enough to hear Cher do "Bang Bang".

I'm still here, yup.  And now, the dud of a Madonna single, "Hung Up."  If I want to listen to ABBA, I'll listen to ABBA, thanks.

Switched to WLNG in time for "Song Sung Blue".  Mr Diamond's new Rick Rubin-produced CD got a nice review in EW.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help me find a radio station that plays this kind of rhythmic easy listening.  Free Design's another good example, I suppose I'd put Herb Alpert in the category as well.  Is there a name for the subgenre?  (At least, I'd think it a subgenre of Sunshine Pop.)

on WLNG: CG fave "Love Me For a Reason", proof the Osmonds could make a really good record when they put their collective Mormon minds to it.

a fab CGSS today, and here's Tavares, "Whodunnit?", which I almost requested from Dave today, but which I doubt he'd've played.

"it's up against the wall... you all!"
