Mon 3/28/11: 1977

"Swingtown" -- how many '77 sets has this been the leadoff track on?

VHM Ms Ronstadt's cover of "Tumbling Dice" with diff lyrics -- "people try to rape me" indeed.

Cheeze for Breakfast: Styx have illusions.

Dude! it's prog rock's last gasp! Or at least Yes's: BOS "Wondrous Stories".  And I'll peg this Dan track as a proxy of cairo.

Mr Browne's running on empty. And so is Crapton.

We Will Katrina You/We Are the Champtrinas

Santana gets Zombie-fied, or vice-versa.

Steve Miller Band - Swingtown
Linda Ronstadt - Tumbling Dice
Styx - The Grand Illusion
Yes - Wondrous Stories
Steely Dan - Peg
Electric Light Orchestra - Sweet Talking Woman
Jackson Browne - Running on Empty
Eric Clapton - Lay Down Sally
Queen - We Will Rock You/We Are the Champions
Santana - She's Not There

woo hoo -- a year that cannot possibly suck.

on the corner is a banker with a motorcar...  looking for fish'n'finger pie, no doubt.

Ree-Ree gets some B-O-S-P-E-C-T. Rascals get BOS2 with the fab "Ah Bin Lonely Too Lawng"

LAWD! Kurt Weill helps Jim look for a whiskey bar --oh, don't ask why. BOS3.

Least necessary: "For What It's Worth". VHM Sam & Dave just for not being the Blues Brothers.

Now dig this, baby: BOS4 Jimi on "Fire". Stop actin' so crazy!

uber-BOS5 and proxy of gaz: the pre-fab four, "Sheeeee"!

Listen, baby! Marvin'N'Tammi will be here on the double. VHM "ANMHE"

Let's spend some time together with the eager-to-please-Ed Sullivan Mick.

Thur 3/31/11: 1978

prepare for "Thunder Dreadlock Island Holiday"!

Meanwhile, I'm shocked to see that Bob is NOT doing a "Fool" set tomorrow -- it's a theme set of songs about dancing instead. Hrm, wonder how many actual, y'know DANCE tunes there'll be...

But back to '78: the Cars wave "Bye Bye" to an orangeade sky.

But Foreigner say it's a blue morning -- VHM "BM, BD". And VHM VH, gettin' Kink(s)y and Frankie V gettin' "Grease"y.

Sting and Co. are "So Lonely" -- this was before tantric sex, obviously.  BOS LRB, remembering Glenn Miller and Cole Porter.

AAACK! a double-shot of Journey!

Brooooce wants "Candy". or her room. or both. BOS2. And the 'oo say: 'oo the fook are yoo?

Doobs live their lives with Mr McDonald minute by minute by...

Cars - Bye Bye Love
Foreigner - Blue Morning, Blue Day
Van Halen - You Really Got Me
Frankie Valli - Grease
Police - So Lonely
Little River Band - Reminiscing
Journey - Feeling That Way/Anytime
Bruce Springsteen - Candy's Room
Who - Who Are You
Doobie Bros - Minute By Minute

Fri 4/1/11: Bob's a Dancin' Machine

No foolin'.

BB's "dance dance dance", VH Dances the nite ay-way.

Sly's gonna add some bottoms!

VHM da Feats. But Orleans is not really what I had in mind, Bob.

But BOS Thin Lizzy, "Dancing in the Moonlight". Chocolate stains optional. It's so god-damn HOT-ah! VHM The Mighty Zep.

Fo' goodness sakes! Bob's got da hippy hippy shakes! VHM for goofiness alone.

Henley's politics are clashing with the theme here.

No surprise that we get "Come Dancing". Damn, this song must test well in focus groups. You'd think people would be  sick of it by now.

Beach Boys - Dance Dance Dance
Van Halen - Dance the Night Away
Sly and The Family Stone - Dance To The Music
Little Feat - Old Folk's Boogie
Orleans - Dance With Me
Thin Lizzy - Dancing in the Moonlight
Led Zeppelin - Dancing Days
Swinging Blue Jeans - Hippy Hippy Shake
Don Henley - All She Wants To Do is Dance
Kinks - Come Dancing

And not a disco tune in the bunch. Imagine what AL could do with this concept.
