Fri 2/26/10: 1989

Neneh Cherry -Buffalo Stance
Cure -Love Song
U2 -Angel Of Harlem
Skid Row -18 And Life
Kon Kan -I Beg Your Pardon
Karyn White -The Way You Love Me
Tom Petty -I Won't Back Down
Fine Young Cannibals -She Drives Me Crazy
Paula Abdul -Straight Up

hooray for Neneh Cherry and Kon Kan! -- if AL played either on in '89 I'd plotz. NOTE: 2nd time this week that "Bob" did a set where Paula Abdul was "#1 on this date"  I'll have to check this one out on the replay tonite.

I don't pay close attention to these; does he always play "#1 this week" as Tune #10?

Yeesh: WOS Skid Row featuring the then-homophobic Sebastian Bach -- who later went into musical theater. Oh, irony.

But uber-BOS2 Kon Kan's fantabulous "I Beg Your Pardon".

VHM  Karyn White, shamelessly imitating Janet Jackson, Jodi Watley and Paula Abdul simultaneously.

I haven't heard that Karyn White since the year it came out.  Interesting how thoroughly forgotten she's become.

Most dated sound of the second half of the '80s: that cross between a screech of brakes, a scratch of a record, and fake brass.  What on earth is that?

Second most dated, btw, is the VROOM that kicked off "How Will I Know" and a bunch of other singles of its period.
