While we're looking back at 2009, here's a database of California War Dead, profiles of military personnel from Calif killed in Iraq and Afghanistan 2001-Present, currently (and unfortunately) at 570. Browse by age, gender, hometown, high school, cemetery, etc. Really hits home when you read their individual profiles with photo. Much too young.
