5 Jan 2016: it's... Bottle Rock preview
« on: January 04, 2016, 08:09:54 PM »
Fingers crossed it's not a Bottle Rock lineup set (the big announcement is on the Morning Show) but the possibility exists.

Just heard a promo for today's set -- it is indeed Bottle Rock.
Let's get right to it.

Think I'll stick to KCSM this morning. :)

Headliners are Stevie Wonder, RHCPs, and Florence and her Machine. The rest of the lineup is: Lumineers; Death Cab for Cutie; Lenny Kravitz; Walk the Moon; Rodrigo y Gabriela; Ziggy Marley; Grouplove; Michael Franti & Spearhead; Gogol Bordello; Cold War Kids; Iration; MisterWives; Atlas Genius; Buddy Guy; the Pharcyde; the Joy Formidable; Shovels & Rope; X Ambassadors; Coleman Hell; Ozomatli; and others.

So we can expect today's set to be made up of the first three, plus a selection from the rest.
Let's get right to it.

I'll predict Lumineers, DCFC, Lenny K, Walk the Moon, Franti, Ziggy and either Buddy Guy or Ozomatli for spice.

I can't find any reason to disagree, given that all of those (save maybe Buddy G.) are in the regular KFOG rotation.

This may be one of those very rare days where I skip 10@10 and tune in later to see what A-Z is doing.
Let's get right to it.

PerFB: so far RHCPs, Franti, Grouplove and DCFC.  I'd ruled out Grouplove as a forgotten OneHitWonder. Ah, early-'00s nostalgia....

Florence, natch, and Walk the Moon with our most-overexposed-KFOG-playlist-hit-of-set.

Rodrigo y Gabriela in the "spice" slot.

Somewhat surprised that the RHCPs tune is a bustout, but I guess it's their cover of "Higher Ground" that has gotten 10@10 love. (and given the Stevie connection, might've made more sense today)

From "The Beavis And Butthead" soundtrack, no less. One I actually did see in the theater!

The original by the Ohio Players is a 10@10 FF, and is close to becoming a member of the Twenty Plus Club.

While the clips from Sideways were amusing, that film takes place and was shot in and around
Santa Barbara.  Both A Walk in the Clouds and Bottle Shock would have been more appropriate
choices, as they are set in Napa, and each has many scenes filmed there.
