27 Nov 2007--it's 1981
« on: November 29, 2007, 09:56:08 AM »
Geoff;s post from the old format, with the original setlist, just for record keeping's sake. We can add anything else that's crucial in here later.

I agree with Urth about wanting to hear more Lindley from that album (is there a bad song on it?) but I'd still BOS this (Pretenders 2nd) over the rest:

11/27/2007 - Tuesday. Good Times! 1981!!

1. Genesis - Keep it Dark
2. Jam - Monday
3. Eric Clapton - I Can't Stand it
4. Tubes - Amnesia
5. Kinks - Destroyer
6. Prince - Controversy (BEST OF SET!!)
7. David Lindley - Mercury Blues
8. Pretenders - Talk of the Town
9. Foreigner - Waiting for a Girl Like You
10. Kim Carnes - Bette Davis Eyes

BONUS TRACK: Blasters - I'm Shakin'
Let's get right to it.

Worth noting: Dave's "technical difficulties" during the set did indeed mean it wasn't recorded -- we got a diff '81 set on the replay (tho' oddly the same Jam song was #2 in both sets).

I posted the replay list at the time, but now forget some of it.  We had:

Jam - Monday
Police - Hungry for You
EWF - Let's Groove
Franke & Knockouts - Sweetheart
Genesis - Another Record
Cars - Shake It Up
Lakeside - Fantastic Voyage

Here's the whole list, from the previous board:

Listened to the replay while at work (I'm the last one here, woo!). They used a different -- and far superior! -- 1981 set:

Styx - Too Much Time on My Hands
Jam - Monday
ELO - Hold on Tight
Police - Hungry for You (J'aurais Fame de Toi or whatever the subtitle is)
Earth Wind & Fire - Let's Groove
Genesis - Another Record
Franke & the Knockouts - Sweetheart
Pat Benatar - Promises in the Dark
(segue: Bette Midler announcing Best Song Oscar nominees - "How do you like it SO far, kids?!")
Cars - Shake It Up
Lakeside - Fantastic Voyage

(the old board can be found here: http://10at10club.com/oldforum/ )
Let's get right to it.

J'avez faim de toi, I think.  But yes, this was a better set -- the only appearance ever (so far) of "fantastic Voyage", for one thing
