the Crusaders' instrumental I forget the title to.

that would be "Put it Where You Want It".  Ever hear Sly's 15-minute "Sex Machine"? (NOT the JB song)

Urgh.  I dislike "Sex Machine" almost as much as the Airplane's "Spare Chaynge."  Long rock instrumentals almost always bore me.  It's the only sour spot for me on the whole Stand! album.

BOS to the Rascals, "See."  Used to be a Dave fave back in the '90s, but I haven't heard this much in recent years.

HM to Booker T & the MGs' "Time Is Tight," though I far prefer "Hang 'Em High."  There's just not enough tension on this one, not enough resolution, just kinda loops around itself -- the same criticism I have of the Crusaders' instrumental I forget the title to.

I thought I remembered reading that this is one of those songs written with him in mind that he originally turned down... and then began covering in concert after it was a hit for somebody else.  There's another that's on the tip o' me tongue...

Taking a guess, but is that "Until It's Time for You to Go"?

VHM to Mr. Dacres

is that a contraction of "Dekker" and "Aces"?

That's his real name, Desmond Dacres.  I guess they felt "Dekker" would be easier to pronounce for the non-French.

And gee, how long til POC gives BOS to "Compared to What?"

VHM to Mr. Dacres talkin' bout the Lost Tribe.

WOS (surprise!) to "Hot Smoke & Sasafrass."  Mike, I have no idea what you see in this song.  Seriously.

Early predictions:

(wildcard) Bill Deal & the Rondells, "May I"
(surething) Diana et al, "Someday We'll Be Together"
(hopeful) anything from Donovan (dare I hope for "Atlantis"?)
(doubtful but desired) Mercy, "Love Can Make You Happy"

I Spy with my little eye... a Top Ten hit from 1976 that mentions both Euell Gibbons and John Keats.

I know this, but I'd rather let someone else have a turn.

Stream of Consciousness / I Spy

Time for a new game.  I'll "spy" a song, and whoever names it gets to "spy" the next one.  In the advanced edition all the spied songs will have a common theme, but let's start with the intro edition now.

I SPY, with my little eye: a Top 10 hit from 1969 that rhymes "mighty bad" with "mighty mad."

Have at it!

He's aged well.  Could do without the tat, though.

"Tonight's the night we make history / Honey, you and I"

Doesn't get any cornier, children.  But I like it.

Any, any chance on earth of hearing Marty Balin's "Hearts" today?  It was a Top 10 hit but Dave's never played it since I've been listening (10 years as of next September!).

Oh, I dunno.  I've always liked "The Voice."  The opening for some reason made me think it was "We Are the World" and we were getting a special-event set.  Yikes.

Was expecting '90s today, though.
