Would Mike be gobsmacked that Bob played 5 Man Electrical Band's *other* hit?  You're absolutely right.

I meant to post this two weeks ago but forgot: Mollie Sugden, who played Mrs. Slocombe on Are You Being Served? (a '70s British comedy I'm quite fond of) passed away on July 2.  Obit here, but a better tribute (to her and her pussy) here.

It's Rob's first-ever trip to 1996.  So far we've had:

Smashing Pumpkins, "Tonight, Tonight" - I know I had this album in late '95, but it kept spawning singles well into '96.  (Top 40 hits from Mellon Collie: 4.  Top 40 hits for the rest of the Pumpkins' career: 0.)  And what a wonderful video from John and Valerie Ferris.

"Lack of Water" - I forget who this was, but it was a KFOG staple around the time I arrived in SF

Sublime, "Santeria" - one of a half-dozen of their songs Live 105 had in heavy rotation that fall and winter.

Wilco, "Monday" - ignored at the time, sounds like a staple now.

Beck, "Devil's Haircut" - takes me back to the Polynesian-tiki-lounge kitsch scene that reigned supreme in winter '96-spring '97 before the swing revival took hold.

Holy fucking shit.  The quarterback was found shot to death, along with a female companion, in a Nashville condo.  No details known.

Tuned in for some of the replay.  I won't get to listen to or post the entire set, but here's the year, for posterity.  BOS to Crash Test Dummies' "Superman's Song."

Rob pulls out a semi-rarity that I remember well: Live, "Pain Lies by the Riverside."  The boys from York did some great stuff early on but lyrically perhaps should have stayed in the shallow water.  Their end-of-'90s stuff was kind of embarrassing.
