Looks like another LN-laden excursion, but then I'm pretty jaded.

Reading the list, there was only the KISS track that I couldn't "play" in my head.  That being said, it's a pleasant enough collection of songs, very strong on nostalgia for me.

I like Johnny Cash's "Hurt" way better than the original.  Admittedly, NiN makes it sound awful on purpose (scratchy and distorted and altogether annoying, especially with headphones - it actually "Hurt"s to listen to it).

Someone screwed up and didn't make the text of the setlist match the background.  I'm going to listen for song 10, mostly.

A rarity from Billy Joel! "Great Wall of China", I'm guessing.

Little known alternative fact - the Mongols paid for the GWoC.

Just reviving this thread so I can wish the Tower of Power guys a speedy recovery.  I was at Sunday's show (satisfying, as always), and while I was hanging around outside for a while prior to the show, a couple of trains went by.  You'd expect it would be pretty hard to get hit by one of those trains (they aren't going that fast, they are blowing their horn, it's hard not to notice them), but I guess it was an unusual set of circumstances - they waited for a train going one way, and did not notice the other train coming from the other direction.

Looked at the list and I have no clue.

The big hint was the birthday thing mentioned (someone's birthday 122 years ago today, and I looked up birthdays from 122 years ago)... and, in Wednesday's set's backsell, he mentioned "Hold Your Head Up" was a preview of this set's theme.  So I'm pretty sure I know what the theme is, though I haven't listened yet, and I'm not sure the songs all meet the requirement.  Though Ray Charles almost certainly does.

That's all the hints I'm giving.

ETA:  Listening now, and DW gives it away just before the set.  And it's right up front with the Ray Charles track.  BOS Brother Ray.

Did he skip Badfinger on the backsell? I was waiting for him to say that that was the song with George Harrison playing on it (is it? Seems like the only candidate), but I don't remember him saying anything about it. Of course, I'm trying to work. Maybe somebody came into my office...

I don't remember it in the backsell either, but it had to be.  George produced and played some of the slide parts (looked it up on Wikipedia for confirmation).

Agree with Mike, though it wasn't the worst thing to listen.  Also, congrats to Mavis Staples on her Kennedy Honor thing... so BOS to the Staple Singers.

Though I post a lot less than in the past, you all are still a vibrant part of my intellectual life (such as it is).

my two bits on the election:

I would be honored if anyone cared to leave a comment.

So, finally, I've commented.  Thought about it for quite a while, and my response isn't a perfect reflection of what I mean.  These questions are hard.  But the basic idea is there.

Merry Christmas everyone!  Which is also ridiculous.  I'm an atheist.

How do you see the setlist again? I've done it before, but can't remember the magic incantation.

just click and drag over the empty space, as if you were trying to copy-and-paste something that's not there, and it will magically appear.
I tried that, but no magic happened. I think there are two different interfaces to get to the player, and I'm on the wrong one.

Yeah, it doesn't exist on the Mixcloud page that you get if you click thru from the email they send out. You have to go to the SoundwavesTV page (http://soundwavestv.com/category/1010/) and then click to the individual set page from there, and you'll be good to go.

That works!  Thanks.
