Kind of an MOR-y set (not to be confused with a Morey set, which we haven't gotten a new one of for about 8 and a half years). But not bad.

It's DW's 150th 10@10, so it's 10 songs with numbers in the title that all add up to 150. Cute. A couple rarities but most of the tunes are quite familiar.

But our own Geoff Gould got a shout-out in the backsell, along with a few others who contributed via the FB page.

I broke my custom of not looking at the setlist ahead of time, and I'm glad I did. Nothing here that's calling to me.

In Memoriam, Happy Birthday / Re: RIP Allan Holdsworth, 70

Damn. With John Wetton's passing last month, that's half of the original lineup of UK. (UK was a shortlived prog supergroup of sorts from the late '70s, consisting of Wetton, Holdsworth, Eddie Jobson and Bill Bruford. ) RIP.

Ain't no loooooong version of "Won't Get Fooled Again". There's just The Version.

Heh. I thought the same thing. There's the album  version (aka The Version) and then there's that crappy hacked-up single edit.

In Memoriam, Happy Birthday / RIP J. Geils, 71
« on: April 11, 2017, 06:44:34 PM »
The guitarist and namesake of the J. Geils Band, whose full name was John Warren Geils, was found dead in his home in Groton, Massachusetts. Authorities say their preliminary investigation shows he died of natural causes.

Damn, all the rockers I loved in my youth are dropping away. I know he hadn't played with the Geils band for years, but still, a hard one to take.

So apparently today, after a mere 39 years of closeted togetherness, Barry Manilow and his manager came out as a couple.

Who'd have guessed?!?

actually he came out 2 years ago when he got married  to the guy. That this "new" BBC interview is "trending" today is not really new.

Sigh. I hate the internet.

'83 it is, and mostly usual suspects (Dexy's, Missing P's, the less-popular of the Kommisars, Thompson Twins, etc) and a few rarities (a not oft heard or missed Benatar song, something called "Whirly Girl" and Phil C. recycles In The Air Tonight with an ABBA escapee).

Just occurred to me that today is the first anniversary of the day Cumulus blew up KFOG. Kind of curious that today is the day Soundwaves is celebrating its "birthday" but I guess they're talking about w-a-a-a-a-a-y back in '83 when they started the whole Soundwaves thing, not just 10@10.

This set is a stone gas!  Out of 20 songs I count 6 or 7 that qualify as obvious oldies-format staples, and the rest are rarities. Terrific stuff, you get the picture? (Yes, we see!)

Right there with you on all counts. A few familiar ones but mostly rarities and early versions of songs made popular by others (a pre-Jerry Lee Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, anyone?).  And the Ruth Brown song that finishes the set is just a stunner. Great set, front to back and top to bottom.

I just love that they can't even bring the anti-Obamacare bill to a vote.  Thankfully, Trump is seemingly too incompetent at this point to do actual damage.

Perhaps those who are saying that we need Trump to not be impeached so we don't get Pence in the White House might have a point.

All we have to do is endure the United States being an absolute laughing stock for the next 4 years or so.

The drummer who played on the first two Boston albums died in mid-performance while on a "Legends of Rock" cruise.

Loreena McKennit (sp?) gets the BOS. I never heard her on the radio. It took 10 more years and RadioParadise for me to hear her music.

Yeah, that's a nice one. I recall KFOG played it at the time (or maybe just on Acoustic Sunrise).  Rest of the set: nothing I really need to hear. No excuse for Kid Rock, ever.

You know a set is having trouble when "Gettin' Jiggy Wit It" is your runner-up for BOS.  And listening to the backsell, DW was again nearly apologetic about having played the Kid Rock, so why? Just don't go there.

Yep, not surprised that the BNLs make an appearance, along with a number of other fairly bland picks (Toad, Lemonheads, TMBG, 10K Maniacs), and Sir Mix-a-lot notwithstanding.

Peter Finch has to be the whitest guy in San Francisco.
