...me.

Forgot to mention this last week, but Sarah (the wife) and I have been selected to fill out Arbitron radio-listening diaries for the next week, commencing tomorrow. And I was surprised to learn that streaming Internet broadcasts count as well. I had been assuming otherwise, but when they called the other night to make sure we'd rec'd our materials, I asked and they said any sort of radio listening should be logged. "So if I listen to, say, a station that's from London, I should record that?" "Absolutely. Any kind of radio that you listen to, just put down the name of the station."

So CG and DDT may be seeing a small spike in their SF Bay area ratings in this period.

KFOG's 10@10 / 10@10 Annual Recap
« on: January 28, 2005, 03:10:14 PM »
So just in case you were wondering (I'm sure at least some of you have been):

In 2004 we heard 261 separate 10@10 sets. Of those, 30 were "classics" and 43 were theme sets. I counted Vertical Tastings (of which there were five) in as theme sets, since they're sort of a hybrid, and not specific to a single year. There were three Soul Patrols, one of which was also a Vertical Tasting from 65 to 74.

There were several sets that were counted as both theme sets and year-specific, which accounts for the total shown below being 6 greater than the actual number of sets we heard: the 1971 Soul Patrol, the 1969 Moon Landing, the 1968 Democratic Convention, and three Republican Convention sets for 1968, 1972 and 1980.

Of the 230 year-specific sets (classics included), we visited 1976 most frequently: 12 times. This number surprised me--I would have guessed we'd hit 1982 most often. The least-visited years were, not surprisingly, the oldest and newest ones: 1965 and 1995, at once each. However, just the fact that we went to 1965 at all, and hit 1966 twice were the biggest surprises of the year, since we hadn't been back beyond 1967 in at least five years.

By the way, these numbers do not include the ten sets that were played on Oct. 10. As they all seemed to be classics, they were completely outside the normal routine of 10@10, and the "Ten 10@10s for 10/10" promotion isn't something that they do every year, I felt they would unfairly affect the results.

Here's the numbers, year by year:

1965   1

Stream of Consciousness / Beej in the birthday club?
« on: January 21, 2005, 09:59:43 AM »
I told Dave his day was on Sunday, but I guess the mention is what counts. Was hoping for a "birthday bucket bonanza" '65 set, but a 70s VT will be just fine.

Will that be flat-head or Phillips?
