Bull Durham (what Crash believes in) --> CheapTrick "The Flame" WOS.

1998 was the year of the rock ballad, though (with heavily reverbed acoustic guitars).

OMFG: Fairground Attraction's fantabulous "Perfect". uber-uber-BOS3.

Not to mention popular with the 10@10 club on last night's request board.

Mighty Lemon Drops "Inside Out" -- a rarity, for sure. BOS1FRA.

ETA: only one prev appearance, in 2011.

The consensus at my college radio station, where I dj'ed in the late '80's, hated the pop side of college rock. I guess I went along most of the time, but I always liked this song.

Erasure, fresh from several appearances in A-to-Z, with "A Little Respect". BOS2.

I requested Erasure, but the other big single from this album. Oh well. This is a great song, too, and made for a clever segue from the previous political clip.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  uber-uber-LN and all-time Moreytrina, "Wishing Well"

The first two were, I believe, released on album in 1987, so AL may be thumbing her nose at the dude on FB who was needlessly nitpicking the dates of a couple of requests and a song played on the air the other day.

The Who "Substitute"

ETA: And we're already at tune number ten -- will we get a bonus or a treat during the backsell?

I guess the Batman theme will have to suffice. Stone, Who and Beatles were all represented -- alas, the Kinks get short shrift.
BOS to the Stones, but only if I am limited to one song. Otherwise it was a 10-way tie.

No room in the garage for Dylan either.

Back-to-back heavy psychedelia on The Bone (key word for today's Hot Lunch is insects): Helter Skelter and In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida (key word relates to the band names here, of course). This In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida has been going on for a while. I think the Weed Man is going to roll the entire 17:05 album version. If folks at corporate HQ are listening, I'm sure they're pleased.

That was the best 17:05 I've heard on local radio in a while!

Pat Monahan of Train sang the national anthem a cappella before the AFC Championship Game. His voice is really strong, which I hadn't noticed before.

It's been said that as long as he doesn't write the songs, he ain't half bad.

Interesting use of the passive voice. I wonder if the name of the person who said that begins with "T."
