JJ on KPOO playing Stylistics and some groovy pop nugget
called 'Your Wonderful Sweet Sweet Love'
by the Jean Dupree Terrell-led Supremes.
Where the hell are my go-go boots?

I'll head over after Rob's 1985 set. Post-Diana Supes are very underrated.
ETA: And I made it in time for the Independents' "Baby I Been Missing You". Smoove! And the Soul Children -- "I'll Be The Other Woman".
Ree-Ree's "Runnin' Outta Fools" is sublime.
"Open the Door To Your Heart" is easily one of my fave OHWs of all time. Walk right on in!
Ketty Lester's "Love Letters" -- swoon! Covered superbly by Alison Moyet in the late '80s.

'DAS plays a Stevie Wonder LP nugget, "I Am Singing" -- just lovely.
and the lesser-known Spinners tune, "Living a Little, Laughing a Little", later covered by John Hiatt of all people, and Elvis C does it in concert as part of his "Clown" medley.

2NG's retro-chart is from '72 today. It will be hard to tear myself away from this at 10:00.
wow: "Walk With Me Talk With Me Darling" by the 4 Tops is NTM. Leftover Motown, I'm assuming.
"Where is the love?" asks Donny... "it's out on that window ledge" replies Roberta. (that one never gets old)
also NTM: a cover of "Too Busy Thinkin' 'Bout My Baby" by a NY-based band called Mardi Gras. Kinda nice.

damn, how many times did Jackie Wilson's "Sweetest Feeling" chart? (answer: once in the US in 1968; THREE times in the UK, '72, '75, '87) One of my all-time faves, in any case.
"Everyone's trying to get out of the rain..." BOS Glodean and the girls.
one of the uber-LNs of all time: "Layla"
Chairmen of the Board's "Working on a Building of Love" is also NTM; sounds like one of Love Affair's many "Everlasting Love" soundalikes.
one of the uber-LNs of all time2: "All the Young Doods"

KPOO today between 8 - 9 played some good stuff, like early Spinners.

JJ just played a version of the Les McCann/Eddie Harris classic "Compared to What" that bleeped the word "goddammit" :o
