Like "Buffalo Stance", "All Around The World" will get its time. It has to.

On the other hand, after the look AL gave me when I played it at the Last Call, "Vogue" has no realistic chance.

AL hates her some Madge, ahtellyawhut.  I'd've thought Biz Markie woulda made an appearance by now, given that "Just a Friend" has been in several commercials.

2NG's retro-chart is from April '72, so I'm def listening to that rather than subject myself to 1990. One of the songs is ONJ's cover of "What is Life?" which I've never heard.

There was a lot of good ROCK/alt/ROCK in the 90's. Not sure about 90 specifically. I have been in a metal mood lately. AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Offspring were all good this morning.
TOTHC, blah.

I'll give the Cocteau Twins a BOS. I didn't pay attention to them at all when they were current, but they (she?) certainly have a cool sound.

"Getting Away With It", I presume. This would be its second experience.

Metropolis, in general, makes my day.
Oh btw, does someone have the link for the 4shared site? (If it's still up/active?)  I think some people on the GS site recently talked about it...

The Cure, being necessary this time, with "Never Enough."

Awesome 1990 set.

Awesome 1990 set.

from their Mixed Up release, right?

I have it somewhere.  I like their mix of The Walk on that.

‎04/12/12 - Thursday! 1990

1. Social Distortion - Ball and Chain
2.Black Crowes -- Twice as Hard
(TV clip - Simpsons -- Lisa wailing away for America)
... 3.Enigma - Sadeness (Part 1)
4.Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas
(news clip -- Senate ethics committee on Keating Five)
5.Midnight Oil -- Blue Sky Mine
(TV Clip -- SNL -- Sinatra Group)
6.Billy Idol -- Cradle of Love
7.The Lightning seeds -- Pure
(News Clip -- Zsa Zsa Gabor serving time; Paul mcCartney getting a lifetime Grammy; Milli Vanilli being frauds)
8.Electronic - Getting Away With It
9.The Church -- Metropolis
(Movie clip - Pump Up the Volume)
10.the Cure -- Never Enough
Bonus: Pixies -- Cecilia Ann

sorry, rad: I count at least 4 LNs there (and I'd WOS the Crowes and Billy Idol) and that makes it something less than awesome as far as I'm concerned. And wasn't "Never Enough" on Connected the other nite?

I kinda gotta go with Mike here (although I don't share his Black Crowes disdain). Apart from the Electronic, and possibly the Cocteau Twins, it's an LN-fest.

Cocteau Twins, Church and Cure win it for me.  Electronica and Lightning Seeds get HM votes, too.

Nothing else moved me. The first three songs bored me to tears.  OK, I admit I like Midnight Oil, even the LN Blue Sky Mine.

And I like Billy Idol in general, but I never took to Cradle Of Love.  Ho-Hum.

Most sets seem to have 8-10 LN's anymore, so I can deal with 4.  It probably also helped that I liked most of these, including some of the LN's...and that most of these tracks, except for Midnight Oil & possibly Social D & The Lightning Seeds, aren't heard too much outside of 10@10 anymore.

The Cure & Cocteau Twins are bustouts (though Dred probably did play The Cure...but in the words of RGMike, "a bustout is still a bustout"  ;) ) & Enigma, Electronic & Social D, as far as I can tell, each have one previous spin.  I know "Metropolis" used to be an incredibly frequent flyer...but it looks like we haven't heard it since 2009.

"Never Enough" is a bustout? Who's a-thunk that? Not me apparently.

Listened to the replay last night, and I'll have to eat my words from above. Yeah, we could have done without "Blue Sky Mine" or "Metropolis" or "Ball And Chain",  but by and by it held together great. Particularly the montage into "Getting Away With It".
