I was gonna +1 Haddaway, just to see if I could make anyone's head explode, but resisted. I literally have no preferences in 1993. Maybe some Nirvana, but I'm not sure that's necessary either.
-
well, I was off by a day. And actually, doing Groundhog Day the day AFTER, er, Groundhog Day is pretty clever. OTOH, this means that DC nixed the "NY vs Boston" set which could've been interesting (despite the fact we would've certainly heard The Cars).
The movie is on CMT at 9:00, BTW.
-
Annalisa KFOG all but made it clear she has no intention (or permission) of actually paying attention to requests: :'(
"Feel free to drop a request or 2 below and then tune in to hear the year. Thanks. Have a great night."

You're right, of course, but it's still fun to see what people ask for, plus there's always that chance...

Well, I've had 2 weirdass requests fulfilled in the last 4 months so it still does happen. But obviously the good old days are long gone. And the higher the number of FB friends she has the lower the quality of suggestions, because most people just wanna hear the same-old same-old (just see the gushing over today's collection of LNs -- "ooo! Proclaimers! LOOOOVE them!!"
and can anyone make sense of this post on AL's page tonite:
"Annalisa,I have thought long and hrd about an arcane Groundhog day musician. How about the Cream?"
er... huh?

Sort of along the same lines, I like Harry Nilsson and all, but I'm not sure I need to see two or three Nilsson pictures posted per day. I wonder what Champlin's up to . . .
-
I'm gonna pass up '93 in favor of Philly Soul. I can't take this shit any more.
-
Hmm, it's that U2 song with The Edge singing that everyone tried to forget about.
-
Is this U2? Not good.

A misguided reference to Pressed Rat and Warthog?

Done and done. I was actually listening to that station last night - wonderful lesser-knowns, though I could do without the '50s material.
-
Why is she playing clips from Groundhog Day?
-
"Disarm": LN1. Didn't this kick off the last 1993 set?
But "Numb," otoh, is a pleasant surprise. BOS1
-
Why is she playing clips from Groundhog Day?
because it came out in 1993. and actually, playing the clips the day after Groundhog day is kinda cute, given the premise of the film.

Ahhh, I see. Freddy Jones is squarely in the LN camp now.

Gaz, yah welcome! Stop on by! Yeah, I know you're not a '50s guy, but the lesser-known stuff is impressive. I've discovered at least a dozen NTM gems in the last 3 or 4 weeks.

we got "Disarm" and Freddy Jones 2 '93s ago (in December). Still too soon to repeat either.
-
Depeche Mode - yay!!
-

I'm starting to like some these later-era sets more and more, b/c I'm being exposed to stuff I don't recall hearing. (Of course, maybe I heard it and forgot it for good reason.)
ETA: I've heard the DM and Feed The Tree a lot, so the formula is not foolproof. AL/DC can still trot out the old War Horses in any era.
-
BOS for Belly! Some of the best stuff from this era.

Yeah, I love me some FJB but LN2. They were in the Disarm set. (Which was her best '93 set in recent memory.) Heck, maybe we'll even get Positive K this time around too...but I'd rather hear Capt. Hollywood or Culture Beat. I wouldn't even mind some Haddaway... :o
-

Yeah, that sure sounded good!
-
The DM is turning into a frequent flyer, but I don't mind, I guess.
In previously said '93 set we also got Belly, but it was Gepetto. Feed the Tree has been creeping up a bit in KFOG's regular rotation lately, still worth a VHM.

WOS to Sheryl Crow sounding like she's out of tune. Not particularly "N" either.
-
fun movie, Dazed and Confused.
btw, David Wooderson is on Facebook: alright alright alright...

Ha! when does she NOT?
-
I'll give a BOS to the Flaming Lips, back before they took themselves so seriously. Haven't heard this in quite a while.
-
proxy WOS for RGMike for She Don't Use Jelly
... but I love it!
The Flaming Lips' Soft Bulletin (1999) is one of my go-to albums. Saw them at Maritime Hall on that tour.
ETA: extreme kudoes to Wayne Coyne for trying to rhyme 'orange' with 'store.'

seriously? we heard this in the previous '93 set and it set off quite the argument, both here and on FB, since I'm one of those who absolutely HATES the song. uber-LN and I'm not even listening!
and really, playing ANY song 2 sets in a row is just plain silly.

Hahaha, well I wasn't here for that one. Actually, I'm reducing my BOS to an HM. It's just such a terrible song on many levels, but I still think it's fun.
I'll give a VHM to Radiohead, though it's an awfully safe choice. And it's the clean version, natch.
-
Now we're talking!! BOS - Primus!
-
Primus sucks! In a good way.
-
cranking this up
btw, you can's spell Sheryl Crow without "W-O-S."
-
LN to the Flaming Lips/LN&WOS to Radiohead

You're so frakking special?
I had SAP training at 10, so I missed everything. It's really difficult to put together a setlist from the comments here. I assume the RH was "Creep," which, while not very necessary and awfully whiny, is one of my favorite songs of the 90's (which aint sayin' much). Turn it up!

Not the greatest '93 set ever.......
Radiohead...meh. Saw them open for Belly at the Warfield that year. Belly rocked the house. TC: Didja know Flaming Lips are going to play The Soft Bulletin at Bimbo's in a few weeks? Noise Pop, baby. :)

yes, I saw that mentioned somewhere. I just checked and it's sold out. not surprised even at $50. Over the years, they've become quite the Coachella-Festival-bunny-suit-huge-ass balloons-into-the-audience darlings, haven't they? They really DO take themselves seriously, like Davefish said.
oh well, I have very vivid memories of seeing them back then. I found a bootleg MP3 of the show somewhere recently. Gave it a listen and went, meh. Still love the record, though.
Waiting For A Superman and What Is The Light? are in heavy rotation in my itunage.
-
Not the greatest '93 set ever.......
an understatement. As long as every '90s set is gonna include 3 songs from the previous 2 sets of that year... I'm boycotting.
-
