"Too Much Love'll Kill Ya" -- as Freddie found out.

"Too Much Love'll Kill Ya" -- as Freddie found out.
i'd hiss you for making a bad joke if i didn't think that's what the song is really about.
-
OMGWTF! Dean's gonna play Bowie's "Absolute Beginners"! What a fabulous single -- shamefully not a hit in the US.
-
Ramsey Lewis, "Wade in the Water" -- Dean's listeners have great taste today!
-
yes, the bowie tune was fab! and always a treat to hear ramsey!
-
"your love is better to me than apple pie...feel the need in me!"
or is it "fill?"
-

he's singing about pie crust -- "feel the knead"!

Ike's nuts + Tina's bush = Nutbush!
where's Beej? it's Grocer Jack! And he never wears a mack, in the pouring rain in Penny Lane.

from the Commodores' "Machine Gun" to Phil C's cover of "You Can't Hurry Whiteness". Talk about breaking the mood.
-
"put your arms around me, baby, don't ever let go."
nostalgia. being eight and "mannequin."
-
you'd think the day could go by without me hearing fyc's "good thing." but, noooooooooooo. just heard it used in a chevy commercial on cg.

In the list of all-time great party-starters (i.e., something you put on when you want to ensure butts will be shaking instead of in chairs), "Machine Gun" is right near the top, along with "Groove Is in the Heart."
-
Thurs 7/21: Wizzard's "Angel Fingers", the follow-up to "See My Baby Jive", which I haven't heard in a gazillion years. Not nearly as good as SMBJ, but you gotta either love or pity somebody who worships Phil Spector that much.
-
"ï'm a roadrunner, baby, can't stay in one place too long!"
-
"ï'm a roadrunner, baby, can't stay in one place too long!"
Like we didn't already know! LOL!
-
"Fat Bottomed Girls" -- so was Freddie really seduced by his nanny or is this song a fiction? Now this song makes me think of those Dove Firming Lotion ads on BART. That woman's navel looks like a coin slot -- quarters only.
-

:) that's the song to be played at my funeral.
mannnnnnnnnnnnnnn - did you *have* to associate "fbg" with the dove women? it's become a moving picture in my head. they're all dancing around in their skivvies, and there's a massive tittie shaking convention during the big tom roll before the last verse. geesh.
-
3 Degrees -- "Year of Decision". A fab single that managed to go nowhere Stateside.
-
"keep on running!" cute little stevie w.
-
WTF??? the Brit version of "Angel of the Morning" by someone named P.P. Arnold (I swear I'm not making that name up!) Neither Merilee Rush nor Juice Newton ever charted in the UK with the song.
-
i couldn't understan tha bloke's accen frew his food-fehl mauf!
who's this singing "angel of the morning?"
-
aaaaaaack! Michael Bolton!
-
aaaaaaack! Michael Bolton!
oh, come on. it wasn't that bad. he *can* sing.
i would have preferred "can i touch you there?"
-
"frisco/disco"- blame it on the boogie.
-

especially when they use Crisco in the Frisco Disco. Still say Michael shoulda blamed it on the boogie during his trial.
Sunshine
Moonlight
Young Boys

ED&JFC! They're not talkin' 'bout the linen...
-
the man in black hisself with "Ring Of Fire" -- a nice way to end my CG listening for today. I'm off to wlng.com to OD on jingles.
-

and lo, the first song they play on WLNG is "If I Could Reach You", the exquisite last big hit by the 5th Dimension. Chills.

Another quote best read while imagining your avatar saying it.

My favorite thing about that song is that the title is actually:
"Can I Touch You ... There?"

I've bought three 5D compilations over the years and still have never heard this song. What's it like? A Lifetime-worthy McCoo ballad like "Last Night I Didn't Get to Sleep"?

I think it's better than "Last Night..." It's a slow, plaintive ballad that I've always interpreted as being written from the POV of a call girl in love with a client (but could just be a woman in love with a married man). It's on every 5D compilation I've seen. Went Top Ten right after "Last Night" but you never hear it. One of Ms McCoo's best perfs IMHO.
-
Yay! nice to have CGSS back! Jeffrey Osborne, "Baby stay With Me Tonight". she makes him feel just like a schoolboy, girl-oh.
-
Candi Staten Island, "Nights on B'way"!
-
Sounded fab.
ooohhh, working at the car wash....working my fingers to the bone...
-
lots o'covers! Al Green did "can't Get Next to You", and now the Isleys version of "Love the One You're With" which I MUCH prefer to Mr Stills'.
-
Can't get next to you. Sounded good.
-
Jermaine! "Let's Get Serious"! Word to the badd!
-
OMG! KC's 1983 "comeback", the wonderful "Give it Up". na na na na na na na na na na na...
-
Temptations, "Law of the Land" (?) -- I don't think I've EVER heard this on the radio.
-
OMGWTF! Hues Corp, "Freedom for the Stallion".
followed by Teddy, "The Whole Town's Laughing..." and -- bonus! -- Lou Rawls, "See Ya When I Get There".
Greg seems to out-do himself weekly.
-
just woke up for gloria's "never can say goodbye!"
-
Just woke up? Dang.
Great CGSS today.
-

i missed most of it. but i'm rocking out to the rock show.
-
ooh, traffic's "paper sun." i love a station that seems to love little stevie w. as much as i do.
-
I'm WLNG-ing; they just made my day with Barry M, "Looks Like we Made it". Playing hide-and-seek with hearts and always hurting...
-
heh heh. Paper Sun (love the brit pronunciation) "...lots of drugs there with Traffic."
-
> a call girl in love with a client
Last night she didn't get to sleep at all!
And isn't "Freedom for the Stallion" a lovely song? A shame that the HC have gone down in history as a novelty act ...
