lyric of the week, on KPOO's blues show:

"You can have that extra wife of mine
But please don't mess with my dog"

the Drive's A-to-Z is "lay"ing down some L's:

Lay Down (Candles in the Rain), Melanie
Lay Down Sally, Crapton
Lay it on the Line, Triumph
Lay Lady Lay, Dylan

Me, I'm listening to Judge, who's playing DeBarge's "Love me In a Special Way" -- haven't heard this in ages.

upon hearing Judge play the Jacksons/Jagger confab "State of Shock", I'm in a state of, well, you know.  Seemed cool at the time but it's such an obvious "Beat It" retread.

Meanwhile... Best. MJ. Imitation. EVAH:

Lawd! Curtis M is a Fool fo' ya.  Always a highlight of any JJ '60s session on KPOO.

and it's followed by the Spector-ized Checkmates, Ltd with the glorious "Black Pearl" and Fancy Miss Nancy Wilson's "It's Over" -- face it, girl!

Hey Mike, what the hell is a "Domino Tourmanent?"    :)

I think it's being held over at the Twisting Place.

Damn, I was ROTFL over how difficult it was for him to say "tournament".

Meanwhile a new discovery:

http://www.kegr.org/

an internet station in Concord, a sort of more-eclectic version of Triple-A, and they just played the OMGWTF-of-the-Day: Pat Benatar covering Kate Bush's "Wuthering Heights".

KEGR would be great call letters for a young-male-skewing rock station. "Kegger 97! DUUUUDE!"

ETA: the Benatar was followed by Ms Ronstadt's "Someone to Lay Down beside me" and Zevon doing "Tenderness on the Block".

ha! 'LNG plays the Patsy Cline version of "He Called Me Baby (All Night Long)"  -- very different from Candi's but nice too.

a HFH I haven't heard (thank gawd) in ages: Jack Wagner, doing his best to channel Peter Cetera on "All I Need".

For those who care, The Drive's A-to-Z is in the Y's ("Yesterday" as I type), in case you wanna see what their "Z" song will be.

3 hours later, they're still in the "You/You've" section. Duuuuude! Judas effin' Priest!

the final 2 songs were the only "Z"s -- "Ziggy Stardust" followed by "The Zoo" by the Scorpions.

Wow: Barry Scott plays Reunion's quite awful follow-up to "Life is a Rock", a dreadful litany of old movie stars' names called "They Don't Make 'Em Like That Any More". No wonder it never charted.

Best thing about taking tomorrow off: I get to stay up and hear all of the Autumn King's oldies show on KPOO. My new fave Sunday nite thing. And he plays one of my all-time-favorite songs, "Everyone's Gone To The Moon".
