KPOO's Judge on roll: a "Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll" to be precise.

JJ's "pre-disco '70s" hour in full sway: Denise LaSalle, what appears to be a NTM sound-alike follow-up to "Trapped By Thing Called Love" -- "The Deeper The Better".

LAWD! Lee Dorsey rides his pony!  The Fleshtones cover of this is one of my fave forgotten '80s singles.

'LNG's Bob Shannon, for no particular reason, is counting down the Top 40 singles in NYC, this week in 1967. And at #29, a Gaz fave, the 4 Seasons' "Beggin' " -- why isn't this on a commercial for Beggin' Strips?  "Put your little paws out, baby!"

and at #25:

Bob's up to #16: the Spoonful's lovely "Darling Be Home Soon". And I feel myself in bloom.

Neil D's "You Got To Me" is an obvious "Cherry Cherry" soundalike but in some ways I like it better.

"Rare as hen's teeth": Jack Jones' "Lady" is NTM.  Sounds like "Somethin' Stupid."

one of the many mad hits written by Bert Kaempfert! ("Lady", that is -- "Something Stupid" was written by Van Dyke Parks' brother! I never knew that!)

I can only assume the script read "...fades IN the air" but La Ross screwed it up -- and nobody wanted to correct her. ('cause she's the Boss.)

Offshore greeted me this morning with Manfred Mann's "My Name Is Jack" -- I cannot tell you how much I loved this one when I was 13, or how crushed I was that it wasn't a huge hit.

OMGWTFLOL -- Ms King with a follow-up to "Take Good Care of My Baby", which she also wrote, "He Takes Good Care of Your Baby", written from the POV of the girl who was, er, taken. I'm sometimes astounded that there are 40-year-old records like this that are still NTM.

'LNG plays a super-long 12" mix of Nu Shooz, "I can't wait". and follows it with Nancy Sinatra in shu-shu-shu-shu-shu-shu-Sugartown.  Which is apparently near "Loveland" 'cause that's the next tune. Amazing.

Tuned into Lost 45s in time for the fabulous "Softly Whispering I Love You" by the English Congregation -- still gives me chills.  All is forgiven, Barry Scott!

Barry's got a total Gaz-fest going here, with Eddy Grant's "Romancing the Stone" followed by Bo Donaldson, "Who Do You Think You Are?"  And for me, there was Toby Beau's "My Angel Baby".

And OMG it's the Osmonds' finest hour: "The Proud One" -- they shoulda done nothing but 4 Seasons covers from then on.

OMGWTF: Cher with a NTM rarity, "Classified 1-A", an antiwar tune written by Sonny (from the POV of a soldier dying in Vietnam) that was  "too controversial" to get radio play in 1971.  Rather overwrought, but I'm glad I heard it.

Oh, rats, wish I'd caught these.  I just got back from DC - had a fun time with some college friends, including performing "One Night in Bangkok" and Wham!'s "Freedom" at karaoke.
