Post by: RGMike on May 29, 2009, 07:26:45 AM

Hmmm...  Maybe I'm not up to date -- what do you mean by Dave's farewell (again)?

KFrOG sent a message to "registered Fogheads" announcing that Annalisa will start doing 10at10 as of Monday.  It said that they'd hoped Dave would continue to do 10at10, but that he was ending his association for KFOG after this show.  I read that to mean they weren't willing to pay Dave what it's worth to do 10at10, so they're gonna get Annalisa to do it for nothing, or basically for one more hour's worth of pay.

I'm keeping away from the Shraytabase (and KFOG's 10@10 page) today--want this to be entirely a surprise.

BOS Chicago, In Terms of Two. Don't think this ever charted--a deep cut from Chicago VI (or was it VII?)

BOS2, JB, Take It Easy.

The latter.  But she changes the julep to a "cold, cold beer" (I forget what else she changes to make that rhyme).  I guess she thought the line as written was dumb too.

PS: What also helps the song is that she gives it new context: it's the last song on her Caught Up concept album about the dissolution of a marriage amid cheating; and she uses it to, upon having dissolved the relationship, look back on how fresh it was when it first began.

yeah, I'll be better suited for it on Saturday.

Gotta say, I'm not quite so on the edge with this one. Or at least I wasn't until Gladys Knight showed up.

At least KFOG gave the fogheads (and us) a little warning this was happening, rather than just dropping Annalisa on us Monday morning.

BTVOS for HR Puf 'N' Stuff!

From me too.  I always liked this theme song, more than the show itself.

you obviously weren't puffin' enuf stuff!

 ;D

Good one...  I feel the need to hear the theme song to "Sigmund the Sea Monster" now.

Yeah, Sigmund AND the Sea Monsters!  Sometimes I think I dreamed that show since no one seems to remember it.  "Shelllllo?"

great characterization re: dreaming the show -- I have tidbits of bizarrre memories of it, too.  But It hasn't cropped back into my awareness via the net or re-runs or anything for a long time.  I don't recall the "Shellllo" part.  Now I have to youtube it.

I've asked him tangentially if we could hear WTF, but he hasn't answered.

That was a great set to "go out" on.  Even though he's already out.  Sad fer sure.  I'll have to send him a note and thank him again.

I'm getting the vibe that he may start streaming eventually, but he's going to keep it simple for now and just do the low-power, over-the-air broadcasts.

I wouldn't assume he's still getting mail from that address. More likely someone at KFOG is checking that box, if anything.

Oh, sorry about that.  It's funny you did that cause I just noticed you could modify other people's posts which seemed odd.

ETA: It's all clear to me now.  It really sucks that Dave is mad at us for the stalkage.  He's gotta know it's now our fault.

Just read thru the lyrics and you are right:

Quote
It's sad to think, we're not gonna make it
And it's gotten to the point where we just can fake it (Ooo)
For some unGodly reason we just won't let it down (let it down)
I guess
neither one of us (neither one of us)
Wants to be the first to say good bye

I keep on wondering (wondering)
What I'm gonna do with out ya (do without you)
And I guess you must be wondering that same thing too (Ooo)
So we go on go on together living our lives (living our lives)
Because neither one of us (neither one of us)
Wants to be the first to say good bye
Oooooh ev'rytime I find the nerve
Everytime I find the nerve to say I'm leavin' (leavin')
Oh, memories, those old memories get in my way (my way my way)
Oh (Ooo) Lord knows it's only me only knows it's only me
That I'm deciving
When it comes to say good bye
That's a simple word that I just cannot say
There can be no way (be no way)
This can have a happy ending (happy ending)
So we just go on (we go on) hurting and pretending
And convincing ourselves to give it just one more try (one more try)
Because neither one of us (Neither one of us)
Wants to be the forst to say
Neither one of us (neither one of us) Wants to be the first to say
Neither one of us (Neither one of us) wants to be the first to say
Fairwell my love, goodbye (goodbye

The real last set:

5/29/09 - Friday 1973
1. Grand Funk Railroad - We're an American Band
2. Chicago - In Terms of Two
3. Jackson Browne - Take It Easy
4. Gunhill Road - Back When My Hair Was Short
5. Steely Dan - Bodhisattva
6. Bobby Goldsboro - Summer
7. Al Green - Here I Am
8. Elton John - All the Girls Love Alice
9. Genesis - I Know What I Like
10. Gladys Knight & the Pips - Neither One of Us

Note the header just says "Friday 1973" rather than "Time spent in 1973" or the like. Guess maybe the our favorite intern was a little sad about it all too.
