Kickin' off the new year with KPOO's funky Judge -- he plays some obscure but fab Curtis Mayfield, "Doo Doo Wop is Strong in Here".
-
OMG -- Judge plays Vicki Sue Robinson's *other* club hit, "Hold Tight".
-
Lawd! The Trammps go where the happy people go. Let the cube-dancing commence.

and OMG it's a Trammps twin-spin: "Where Were You when the Lights Went Out", their ode to gettin down during the NYC power failure in the Summer of '77.
"population gonna grow
in nine months or so"

TANC: one of Gaz's least-favorite disco records: "Baby Face", the Wing-and-a-Prayer Fife and Drum Corps. One of the worst LP covers ever, too:

And you should hear their version of "Eleanor Rigby"...
-
Woo Hoo! the J-5's cover of "Forever Came Today" -- sounds like a 12" mix.
-
Judge is really into the cheeze now: a discofied instrumental ode to "E.T." that is N.T.M. and pretty awful.
-
Judge really makes my day with First Choice's "Dr Love" -- he gots the potion and the motion!
"what he does is keep me well
what he does I'll nevah tell!"
-
This has been one of Judge's best shows in ages: more disco, SalSoul Orch's "Tangerine". He's got more 12-inchers than a gay porn festival.
-
Lawd! JJ on KPOO plays the orig version of "Mustang Sally" by Mack Rice! and now Dionne's gonna "Reach Out" for some coke.
-
listening to Vin Scelsa's 12/27/08 show; he's doing a marvelous extended tribute to Eartha Kitt. "C'est Si Bon", indeed.

Seriously! Who on earth suggested that? Cocaine doesn't make you THAT stupid! (Oh wait ... yeah it does.)

I suspect someone thought it was hilariously "camp" -- as I've said before, so much of early disco (esp the dance-ified covers of very old songs) was aimed at the 40-ish gay men who summered in Fire Island. And so queens who were 10 years old when WWII ended reveled in "Tangerine", "Brazil", "Baby Face" etc etc.

wow -- a NTM Tommy James/Shondells tune: "It's Only Love", sounding like something the Partridges shoulda covered. A sunshiny surprise.

-
Pet Clark's gorgeous "Kiss me Goodbye", another of her many unjustly forgotten hits.
-
totally NTM: a vocal version of "Cast Your Fate to the Wind"; never knew there were lyrics! Shelby Flint is the woman's name, never heard of her.
-
Yet another rarity: the cover of the Beatles' "Michelle" by David and Jonathan (aka Roger Greenaway and Roger Cook, the prolific British songwriter/producers). 'LNG is blowing my mind this morning.
-
no escaping the late Dennis Yost these days: 'LNG plays the last Classics IV hit, "Every Day With You Girl".
-
OMGWTF-of-the-Day: 'LNG plays John & Yoko's "Power to the People", right on!
-
This wretched shoulda-been-a-day-off has been salvaged by the appearance of Mama Cass, "Dream a Little Dream".

OMGWTF2: Babs, "The Main Event" -- Extra! Extra!
