And one for Ali--a deep cut from Frampton Comes Too Fast.
ETA: This qualified as "getting funky" in 1976? It's catchy but not exactly the Ohio Players.
-
YAY!
Hot dog, TOTHC!!!!!!!!!
Consider me one happy cat!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I might even be nice to people at work

Wow, '78 and '76 in the same week. BOS to Frampton, we NEVER hear this Doobs ripoff, er hommage.

BOS Stevie!

I refuse to watch Idol. It's what's wrong with America. Well, that and Bush. And Oprah. And...

-
BOS the Dan in the Caves. Damn, this may well BE a 10-way-tie!
-
BOS: well that's easy.
hey, mshray! thanks for your message yesterday. i was taking my pre-work nap when you called, and didn't receive the message until i finished work, around two this a.m. how was the reading?
-
I recall when I was small...
It never occurred to me until just now that Steve Martin owes his career to Steely Dan.
BOS #3 because of the horns, fwiw.

Uh, shray? I'm no psycologist or anything- but when the objectifier starts thinking he/she IS the object? It may be time to get a new avatar.
:D
-
Yay! Fake jazz! another BOS to BTO, "LOF#1"
-
BOS: well that's easy.
hey, mshray! thanks for your message yesterday. i was taking my pre-work nap when you called, and didn't receive the message until i finished work, around two this a.m. how was the reading?
The reading was pretty good, but the best part was catching up with someone from my childhood. I stayed out way too late with her at the lounge in the Hotel Monaco (& I have called in sick today because of the hangover).
-
And I wouldn't even balk at offering up a BOS to the Dan's Caves of Altamira.
This fake jazz on the other hand....
Speaking of Steely Dan, was surprised to hear, amid all the indie rock being played between bands at the Belle and Sebastian/New Pornos show last night, SD's Only A Fool Would Say That. Nice to get a shoutout to all us fogies in the crowd.

that's ok - i hear it's overrated. :)
-
WOS to "Looking Out for Number One," which besides being weakly sung is kind of a noxious life-philosophy IMESHO.
-
stayed out way too late with her at the lounge in the Hotel Monaco (& I have called in sick today because of the hangover).
heh heh!!! I hate when that happens.
-
Hey POC, LOVE the new avatar. :D
-
BOS 4, the Dan.
I'll take a pass on the fake jazz. I like my BTO overblown and stupid. Stop singing and play your guitar!
BOS 5, Queen.
-
Soon I will have to bail so's I can instruct my minion on how I want some documents indexed into our master database.
I hate talking to my minion....

Judy Judy Judy! (yes, I know -- Cary Grant never actually said that.) Does this make me Punch?
OK, officially a 10-way tie unless Dave plays something horrendous in the next 10 minutes. Gonna be a short set today, no?
-
People would HATE this "Good Company" song if it'd been Macca instead of Queen singing it.
-
Hey POC, LOVE the new avatar. :D
Agreed. I'm hoping for Judy Carne next. Which I guess would make Amelia the Princess Con Carne.
-

You may have a point. Re-thinking my BOS 5...
-
Hey POC, LOVE the new avatar. :D
thanks for the suggestions! i fear i've run out of judys. i'll have to find a new name.

-
WOS 2, Steve Miller.
I really love this album, but this song just doesn't do much for me. Wish Dave would go with Mercury Blues one of these days.
-

my thoughts exactly. i always think it *is* macca until i hear the guitar parts. subconsciously, of course. i mean, i *know* it's queen. let's not get crazy here.

what about eating your filet minion?
As long as I don't have to talk to it...

this is the horrible picture Random House put on her back cover. She's actually a totally stunning redhead, who looks ten years younger than she is & with the body of an olympic athlete (which she very nearly was)

BOS to deep-album-track Boz. Who taught him how to talk like that? (He's the subject of one of the EMP presentations next month, with that as the title.)
-
Well, typical- my minion just pushed our meeting back to 11am for some reason I don't even care about.
I'm, like, the worst middle manager in the world.
Which, come to think of it, is probably a GOOD thing.
Enjoying the set except for the crappy stuff. I mean, I could probably go the rest of my life NEVER HEARING "Take the Money and Run" again. Ever. Seriously.
-
BOS 6, (approx.), Boz. Not a huge fan, but this is nice...
-
Nice horns too.
I don't care for most Boz but it's good here and there.
-
MM-HMM! BOS2 to the Bros. Johnson, good to me and good for me.

I tried it as a kid (back when it had that wacky "10 2 and 4" slogan, and Dick Clark did commercials for it). HATED it, and haven't had it since.
But how does Mr Pibb compare to Dr P?
[insert "they call me... MISTER Pibb!" joke here]

ok, bad chicago joke.

i've got a gub

I love that movie. Woody trying to play cello in the marching band is just perfect.

:) that's weird. i didn't hear the song at all. it's official: in my mind, "TTMAR," as the Guardian from "Star Trek" would say, "has passed into what was."

And more importantly, which Boz and Doobs did I miss? C'mon people, just a word or two from the title is all I ask!
And POC, to answer your question, B&S were pretty good, given the cavernosity of the venue (the SF Design Center, home to many a trade and craft show). No silly covers by either band, but power- and twee-pop at its finest. A pretty fun night out with the college (and pre-college) crowd.

I believe it was quite literally when you were supposed to drink it (and I'm not speaking metaphorically).

"What Can I Say?" and "It keeps you running", speaking of prunes.

Damn. That's a lot of Dr Pepper to drink in one day.

WTF? a Jose tracker?
Dave should use us, the 10@10 Club as his BOS barometer.
Is barometer the right word?

80 nothing, it's barely 11am and we're up to 93 now--make that 94 with this one. Which puts this thread in Top 10 territory if I remember your stats from last week correctly. Odd how a nondescript, fair to middlin' 76 set could result in such a diarhhea of posting.
(Sorry, had to get in on the fun.)

Bonus: Bowie, "Stay". Coulda had "X Offender" or some Joan Armatrading, tho'.
-
And with that last post this just became the most prolific (resisting prunes joke here) 10@10 thread. And with one more after this one, we'll be in triple digits. Well done, gang.

Somehow I missed this post until now, but how could Idi Amin, supreme ruler that he was, be "Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea" from a landlocked country!? I mean, I don't care how egotistical you are, don't you actually have to have some Sea before you can be the Lord of it?
