Title: 19 March 2014: it's... 1991
Post by: RGMike on March 18, 2014, 03:52:17 PM
AL's thread is up for all you earlybirds.  I've suggested "Cream" by Prince (since he was just in town) and Zevon's "Mr Bad Example"

ETA: Prince announced another "surprise" concert for tomo'w nite at the Fillmore... my odds for hearing "Cream" just got better, methinks.

uber-uber-LN/FF suggestion of the day (tie): "Right Here Right Now" and "I Touch Myself". I guessing we'll hear both. And probably some SRV too.

"Put your records on, gurl", sez Corrinne Bailey Rae to AL.

and we're running late again: Concrete Blonde with a 1990 FF to take us up to '91-time.

I haven't heard this one in awhile.

TANC: Just had this album on in the car last night. But hadn't heard it in a couple years at least. My fave Crowded House record, due in no small part to the addition of Tim Finn to the ensemble.

Oh and look who dropped in! Hiya, POC!!!

Seriously, just ONE slice of soul/dance/pop would've improved this set 100%. (No, Mr Kravitz does *not* count)

Maybe so, but BOS anyway.  I really don't pay much attention to '91 sets, so this track stood out.  Love me some Buddy Guy and Jeff Beck.  Of course, individual results might vary.

Don't get me wrong, I am still very glad to have AL back doing 10@10. But let's just say that so far, she hasn't exactly been living up to her potential.

POC! Long time, no see, here!

And I'm finally able to access this from work. I'd agree that the set was rather LN-heavy (although not necessarily low on quality).

OMFG!  What is it about this song?  I've only just recently become aware of it, and that's
because I'm hearing it literally everywhere.  It's like the universe has put it in heavy
rotation.  In the past week I've heard it at the grocery store, multiple times in a department
store, today at Taco Bell... very strange.

Word.  After last week's excellent '71 set, everything else has been decidedly ordinary.
