Title: 23 July 2013: it's... 1966
Post by: RGMike on July 23, 2013, 09:19:53 AM
They've been running a generic "I'm off for a few days but we're bringing you classics" promo.  So, no clue.

BTW the KFOG website says it's 11:34AM Thursday November 15, 2012!

ETA: she's baaaaaaaack!  "it's my older brother's birth year" she sez.  That's gotta be early '70s at least.

Bonus: it's 1966. And Sally gots her a Mustang, y'alls.

And Your Bird Can Sing: George Harrison gives birth to power pop. One of my all-time fave Beatles songs. BOS1.  (Too bad it's only about 1:57 long.)

The Beatles song reminds me that a recent 'Entertainment Weekly' magazine was devoted to 'Top 100 Lists'.

Their #1 album was 'Revolver' (ok with me).
But 'Sgt. Peppers' didn't even make the top 100 -- really made me wonder who came up with that list...  :-)

"Substitute" is an all-time fave., so BOS2. "I look all white but my dad was black" is one of the great lines of all time.

The Beach Boys intro "God Only Knows"

Does this help wash away the 1997, 1990, 1989 and 2000 bitter taste?  ;)

Kinks "Sunny Afternoon" is  abit on the LN side but I'm not complaining.  This has been quite a wonderful half-hour.

The Kinks "Sunny Afternoon"

one for the new royal parents, perhaps?

If ever a set cried out to "go to 11" it's this one, but hey, you takes what you can gets.

Perhaps some criticism Renee might actually listen to would be "make it 35 minutes minimum, regardless".

their follow-up to "Red Rubber Ball" (made it to #16 Pop)

I'd never heard it either until a couple years ago -- the local oldies station (which, btw, seems to have risen from the ashes and is back on the air as of a couple weeks ago) used to play that one (and Red Rubber Ball) semi-regularly.

it was probably a bigger East Coast hit than elsewhere (they were from PA) and I heard it often as an oldie on WABC and later 'CBS-FM.
