The year Web MD went online, sez Nay-Nay. Wiki says that year is '96 but with Renee all things are possible.
ETA: of COURSE Renee knows better than Wikipedia. It's 1997!
TOTHK: Meredith Brooks, "Bitch", beyotches!
-
'97, right on target. More or less.
Meanwhile, life is a bitch. And so's Meredith Brooks.
-
Oy vey: WOS Aqua, "Barbie Girl", but still, it's a non-KFOG pop record so that's a good sign IMHO.

Damn, I was hoping this was just a between-song clip. Def. a Hits from Hell candidate.
-
FP and DB check in to say they'll be listening elsewhere. Gee thanks for letting us know. ::)

In the same category as "Ice, Ice Baby" to be sure, but I'll take it over a typical 1997 AAA snoozer.
-
uber-LN "Naked Eye".

uber-LN "Naked Eye".
FF for sure, but where can one hear this nowadays? Probably not on Alice anymore.

The Sound is doing '82 -- given their penchant for AOR dreck (Asia etc) that's not an alternative, IMHO.

indeed -- gives me hope that we might hear "MMMBop" at some point. If we can just avoid Chumbawumba and the Bosstones today...

And "Semi-Charmed Life". Which means we'll get "Fly" and "Walkin' On The Sun" :P
-
Spoke. Too. SOON. Jeebus H Kee-ryst. uber-uber-uber-LN2 "Tubthumping"
-
Still, no AAA snoozers yet.... as unnecessary as Chumbawumba may be (and they did have another hit which we'll never ever hear).
-
RIP Diana.
uber-uber-uber-LN3 "Bittersweet Symphony". Seriously, KFOG plays this 27 times a week.
-
Hanson! OMFG!! uber-BOS "MMMMBop", one of the truly great pop singles of the '90s.
-

That may be. Still love it. And the Verve's greatest hits makes for a great road trip album.

hehe, but it certainly evokes the time frame, donit? Same w Tubthumping, which is not only a great song, but brings you right back to 97. for the record, I like both songs. I'll have to take your word on The Verve being played on KFOG a lot, because I don't really listen to the station :), but can the same be said for Chumbawumba? Does KFOG play it much?
ooh, Hanson! MMMBOS, mmmkay?

Not that this is not a great pop song, but the competition is kind of thin... :)

Oh hells yeah. They were playing Chumbawumba 27 times a week during the DC era. maybe not so much at the moment.
Oh. Fuck. The Bosstones -- as LN a FF as ever there was.
-
Ok, I'll go with "The Impression That I Get" as the least necessary 10@10 entry ever.
-
Bono stares at the sun. No wonder he always wears those shades.

No problems picking the outliers today.
-
uber-uber-uber-LN4 "Sex & Candy", another never-need-hear-it-again KFOG staple. What a fucking schizoid set this was been.
-

I wish I was out lying in the sun.
-
Should I be happy or sad that I'm missing today's set? :)
-
no Foos like the old Foos -- another playlist staple. Good gawd. This set is turning out to be "Everlong".
-
Should I be happy or sad that I'm missing today's set? :)
unless you love Hanson or "Barbie Girl" I'd say you're lucky to be away, Cap'n.
-
I think calling Aqua a "band" was rather generous, Renee.
-
Most of these were decent songs by themselves, but the set was less than the sum of its parts.

Your requested that one forever, I recall.

indeed, Dave played it at least twice (ETA: once in '97 and once in "Guilty Pleasures) but I couldn't get AL to do it.

My files show Dave played it on January 4, 2008 (A "Brand New" Year....1997!!!) -- his only
1997 set. Annalisa played it on June 29, 2012, in a "Guilty Pleasures" set.

OMFG. Been requesting it forever, but I go on vacation yesterday and now she plays it. ::) (Didn't Dave play this in his '97 set too?)

I believe he did. Interesting that we got '90s 2 days in a row (a rarity for *any* decade to appear back-to-back with itself) and in both sets we got at least one out-of-format pop record. Still a few too many LNs for me but this may be the trade-off.

Yes, he did. Here is the set list, including AL's Bonus Track, for everyone's entertainment.
Note that this would be the first 1997 set on 10@10.

4 (or 5) in common with Tuesday's set. And the others don't exactly distinguish this set - Third Eye Blind in particular, a rather dull Springsteen track, and the ever-LN "All For You". "Barely Breathing" used to be a HAC staple (and for awhile KFOG played it to death too), which leaves us with Crow (which frankly I'm ok with) and Paula Cole. If this were played today, we'd be screaming.

So who did get BOS?
