"The year Secretariat won the Triple Crown" -- finally, an unambiguous clue!
-
Last visit to 1973 (Feb. 15):
1. Van Morrsion - Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)
2. The Who - Love Reign O'er Me
(TV: Schoolhouse Rock. Three is a magic number)
3. The Isley Brothers - That Lady
4. Dobie Gray - Drift Away
5. Bruce Springsteen - Rosalita
(Commercial - Pringles)
6. Gregg Allman - Midnight Rider
7. Gladys Knight and The Pips - Midnight Train To Georgia
(News: Nixon's not a crook)
8. Aerosmith - Dream On
9. Stories - Brother Louie
10. Joe Walsh - Rocky Mountain Way
-
TOTHK - Allman Brothers "Ramblin' Man"
-
The Allmans ramble. VHM and proxy of Geoff to a fairly obvious TOTHK.
-
War "Gypsy Man"
-
VHM War, "Gypsy Man", just for not being uber-LN "Cisco Kid".
-
Last visit to 1973 (Feb. 15):
Really? Barely over a month since we last visited an early 70s year that most of us would agree has the potential to be pretty good? Could DC be coming around to our way of thinking?
(I have noticed the number of plays for each set on KFOG's Soundcloud player has been significantly higher for the 60s and 70s years than for more recent ones. Hopefully that is not lost on DC et al.)
-
VHM War, "Gypsy Man", just for not being uber-LN "Cisco Kid".
Cool jam.
-
Elton John "Bennie and the Jets"
-
Oy: WOS EJ on his B-Day. "Bennie" is my least-fave Elton song.

I like it, and it's so mondegreen-rich, it's a real memory jogger. I don't think I had a quarter of the words right when I'd sing along to it.
-
Oy: WOS EJ on his B-Day. "Bennie" is my least-fave Elton song.
Elton trying to create his own imaginary glam star a la Ziggy? Always wondered what this song would have sounded like without the reverb and all the fake audience sound effects.

Fortunately you don't have to. It's an amazing production, more than it's a good song.
-
Al Green "Here I Am (Come And Take Me)"
-
BOS the Rev Al. Take me, indeed!
-
Dr John the nightly tripper/Doris Day and Jack the Ripper
-
Dr. John "Right Place, Wrong Time"
-
Tower Of Power "What Is Hip?"
-
Ooh, and the funky soul just keeps on coming with TOP. BOS.
-
a bit LN at this point but BOS2 anyway: TOP, "What is Hip?"
-
BTO "Let It Ride"
-
VHM American Graffitti. BOS3 BTO.
-
BOS BTO.
-
this Led Zep clip is endless. But uber-BOS4 "Over the Hills..."
-
Led Zeppelin "Over the Hills and Far Away"
-
BOS2 The mighty Zep, "Over The Hills And Far Away".
-

Gotta chime it, though late... It's my least fave Elton John "hit" at well... That's all, my $0.02
-
Eddie Kendricks "Keep On Truckin'"
-
LN 3 or 4: "Keep on Truckin"
"in all Temptations-land, I'm duckin'"? What?
-
VHM American Graffitti. BOS3 BTO.
Great clip from a great film. Just saw it again on the tube recently -- it still holds up. George Lucas COULD direct great movies, a long time ago and far far away.
-
BOS2 The mighty Zep, "Over The Hills And Far Away".
One of my all time Zep favorites -- especially cranked up to 11.
-
ELO "Roll Over Beethoven"
-
this Led Zep clip is endless. But uber-BOS4 "Over the Hills..."
Did I mis-hear, or did the news reporter say that the Zep crowd in Tampa was the largest crowd assembled anywhere ever (at that time)? Apparently Woodstock and Watkins Glen (which also happened in '73) did not count.
-
VHM ELO. That was a pretty good set indeed.
-
Per Renee: ELO BOS, VHM LZ and Al Green

Probably meant as an individual act, since they beat the Beatles record.
-
1. The Allman Brothers - Ramblin' Man
2. War - Gypsy Man
3. Elton John - Bennie and the Jets
(Sports: Battle of the Sexes. Billy Jean King beats Bobby Riggs.)
4. Al Green - Here I am (Come and Take Me)
5. Dr. John - Right Place, Wrong Time
6. Tower of Power - What is Hip?
(Movie: American Graffitti)
7. Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Let It Ride
(News; Led Zep, biggest concert audience evah)
8. Led Zeppelin - Over the Hills and Far Away
9. Eddie Kendricks - Keep on Truckin'
10. ELO - Roll Over Beethoven
-
Tower Of Power "What Is Hip?"
Although a FF, a big BOS from me. This is such a superlative effort that I never grow tired of it.
The Drew Carey Show used it for one of their dance numbers, and it makes a great video for
the song. Like so much, the clip is on youtube.

I agree, it's well done. I own a copy.
I liked this set a lot and want to cast my BOS to War for a seldom-heard song.

I'd like to credit DC/RR for choosing a great rarity there, but part of me thinks Renee just cued up the wrong track on her "War's Greatest Hits" CD and meant to play "Cisco Kid". ;)
