As you probably already know, 42 is the answer to Life, the Universe and Everything.

Yay Ali! Happy B-Day. Hope Dave picks a great rerun, er, "classic" for you!
-
Happy happy, joy joy, Ali!

Thanks!!!! Drinks for everybody!
Dave's voice is woeful. He probably didn't record a birthday club intro.
I'm leaving for Tahoe tomorrow morning. Swimming, fishing, Reno for a day mid-week, food, drink, etc... Back after the 27th.

Hope her Thursday night justified not getting up to be in Mill Valley at the crack of dawn.
ETA: And before I forget, an extremely happy one to Ms. Alicat! Have fun up at the lake, and win enough to bail on your current gig!

sorry I'm late to the party. I got offerend a part-time teaching job yesterday at O'Connell, and didn't get much sleep last night.
We might go see Wake The Dead tonight at Rancho Nicasio.

i have a 4-day deadline to finish the artwork and mastering of my cd. no extracurricular for me until tuesday. i did think about the show this morning, but i think my time is better spent finishing this. now if they're live somewhere next week, that would be the perfect opp to push the album and the cd release party...yeah...strategy. :)
yeah, ali - i hope you win enough to quit work altogether!!!!

OK, I suppose furthering your career aspirations is a good excuse--you're off the hook.
Next week they're going to a Foghead's house, but it sez on the KFOG site that it's a private party, so you might have to wrangle an invite somehow.
Yep, Dave sounds wretched this am. But not too sick to go record shopping--he said he was off to Village Music as soon as the show was over. (I think I've told the tale of how Village Music figured in my wedding day.)

So I'm strolling down Valencia last nite, and whose face is staring out at me from a poster in the window of We B Sushi, but the beautiful Amelia Ray! Plugging her CD release party next week. I'll be there, baby!

Unfortunately I'll be in Shanghai, but I'll be there in spirit!

happy b-day ali (tomorrow, right?)!!
Is it really tomorrow? 'Cuz today is also Bill Clinton, Ginger Baker, Coco Chanel, Matthew Perry, Willie Shoemaker & Ogden Nash, in whose honor I will recite not one, but two of his poems.
Tell me o' octopus I begs,
Are those things arms or is they legs?
If I were you o' octopus,
Instead of me I'd call me us.
A one 'L' lama he's a priest.
A two 'L' lama he's a beast.
But I will bet a pink pajama,
There's no such thing as a 3 'L' lama.*
*note: it has been brought to the author's attention that a 3 L lama is a type of conflagration.[/i]

More Ogden Nash:
The trouble with a kitten is that
Eventually it becomes a cat.

Geoff, congrats on the job offer! Did you accept it?
I got offered an 80% position in a Mission District school, teaching only one period of chemistry. I'm teaching two periods of math for the kids that flunked the math exit exam, and need remediation. This is going to be a tough, tough year for me, but I need to be able to survive things like this. And I haven't even signed any papers, but the "dream schools" actually start indoctrinating the teachers on Monday! My summer's over!

If you wanted the sky, I would write across the sky
In letters that would soar a thousand feet high:
"To Sir, With Love."
Or something like that.
Yeah, it's a bitch getting the gigs no one else wants, but no matter what your field, those are the only gigs that get you anywhere if you don't have the right connections to bypass them. They're worthwhile gigs, either way: It can only aid one's worldview and perspective to see how people of a different ilk respond to the day-to-day stimuli, and be able to respond to them in kind, in a way that helps them adapt to the adult world.
In other words, you'll do fine. I hope you open your blog to them, if they can handle.
