Title: RIP Earl Scruggs, 88
Post by: urth on March 29, 2012, 12:09:59 AM
The pioneering bluegrass banjo picker died of natural causes in Nashville. Scruggs and his late partner Lester Flatt were responsible for "Foggy Mountain Breakdown," possibly the most recognized bluegrass tune ever, as well as "The Ballad of Jed Clampett," the theme from The Beverly Hillbillies.

Wow, can't believe it's been more than two weeks since the last notable passing was posted here.

I'm glad I got to see him at HSBG.  His band always had a prime slot on the main stage.

RIP.

Pretty bizarre to hear the snarky morning show play the theme from the Beverly Hillbillies this morning!
