fat chance on getting "interesting" requests played but I did my usual usual.
-
HeresToYa! got "minus one'd" by Annalisa... :o ;)
-
I requested a bunch of songs - The The, Jellyfish, The Farm, etc. I seem to have a long request list for 1990 - 92. College years, I guess!

oh, absolutely. I generally don't make WTF selections for these years as my memory of 20 years ago is still pretty firm.
Which makes the usually dreary "KFOG at the time" choices all that much harder to take.

Without comment, one poster's requests:
POISON - Bell Biv Devoe, ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE -Phil Collins, WHIP APPEAL - Babyface, pump up the jam - Technotronic..

well, my position on Mr Collins is well-known, but the other 3? oh HELLS yeah! I was thisclose to requesting "Poison", actually.

Shaun Ryder's getting his melons twisted again. Call da cops!
-
BOS and proxy of Gaz this John Kongos reboot. Step on!
-
BOS1: Happy Mondays or is it Soup Dragons? I'm happy that I might learn something.

it's twisting mah melon, man.
-
"I'm Free" is definitely Soup Dragons. Digging the set so far.
-
ah -- THIS is the Soup Dragons. BOS2.
-
TANC! Soup Dragons with their fab Stones cover, mon.
-
uber-BOS3 Lisa Simpson.
borderline unnecessary: World Party.
-
AL luvs JAMC and I do too.
-
"Policy Of Truth": B for quality, F for necessary.
-
VHMs: J&MC and DM.
-
Talk about unnecessary.....DM.
-
VHM TMBG -- at least it's not "Birdhouse in Your Soul"

Yeah, this is probably a "D" in terms of neccesity. "Birdhouse" is this year's candidate for a Chartbusters Katrina set.

Oh how I loathe TMBG!!! WOS

Oh how I loathe TMBG!!! WOS
OMFG -- I'm gobsmacked. At last -- something we disagree on! (It helps to be from NY to love them, I guess)
WOS Snooze Babbler.
-
I think Freddie P is being crankier than you today.

I always think this is by Love And Rockets.
no hate for TMBG. LOVED them back then, but saw then them last season (?) at Stern Grove and was all Meh.

he hates anything that isn't RAWK from '66 to '79.
-
TANC! Soup Dragons with their fab Stones cover, mon.
first two (maybe three) songs could be combined into one and no one would really notice.
Social Distortion gets a proxy BOS from Shray.
-
VHM Social D -- granted, Dave never played 'em, but it's also becoming an AL-trina.
-
"Joey" is to 1990 as "Don't Get Me Wrong" is to 1986, unloved and unnecessary according to moi.

They were around back then? :O
-
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! they played "Joey" at 5:55 am. I did not need to hear it twice.
-
test for Tinka..... working.
-
BOS X: Velouira
-
BOS X: Velouira
NTM.
-
I wonder if DC was sick today. It seemed as if it were mostly AL's choices.
-
BOS Veloria. I wonder if Gen X parents named their kids that, kinda like the Rhiannon thing in the 70s. Veloria is a better name anyway.

Veloria Basuino... I like the sound of that!
-
I disagree with Tim's assessment. A "good" set but (like most '90s excursions) it needed some pop or country or.... something. And a couple less borderline-'trinas. And the "they played it on the morning show but here it is again" thing is really unnecessary and happens too often. When I heard "Joey" in the shower this morning I thought -- "I hope AL doesn't play it again but I'll bet she does".

I dunno -- most 'early-90s sets seem along these lines to me. I think DC is fine with '90s alt-radio fodder. Talk about hitting your demographic sweet spot.

I like it, too. Get workin' on it! ;)

I have name for that kind of person: Selvin
"Journey started to go downhill when Steve Perry took over."
"Dude, don't be a Selvin: Journey was never bad."
-
I agree...this set was pretty standardly Annalisa, but also not too DC-ized. I think he's starting to lay off, but also she's been doing 10@10s for awhile so we're getting ALtrinas now.

I believe FP hates Perry-era Journey. He's that cranky . . . and I respect that. He also hates classic rock radio standards. Only RAWK deep cuts will do, so he's especially difficult to please, giving RG a run for his money. I think a theme of 10 songs to make FP happy would actually make a pretty decent set.

Velouria!
(Here'sToYa says, "Here's to timeliness!")
