Didn't request it, but I'd love it if AL played the full version of "Macarena".

Even though I know AL more often than not will pull out some treats to make almost any year worth hearing, I still cringe a little whenever I see a year come up from the decade that starts with a 9. Or a 0. Probably because the 6s and 7s appear so infrequently anymore. Sigh. ::)

Heavy sigh, yes.

This Sublime song (don't know the title... "Love is What I Got?") reminds me of the new song by the Dirty Heads.. It's got that same reggae/rock/rap SoCal/OC vibe that I never really liked.

AL's first year on KFOG. And my first WOS: Sublime.

"What I Got".
I thought the Dirty Heads/Rome song would be a bigger hit than it was.
-
"I still feel the same"? not ringing a bell.

every time I hear it on the radio, it seems like it's a hit too big. :)
This second song makes me feel old. You can't be over 22 and look ok singing/dancing along to that..
hmm, the BNLs.. I was gonna rip on them -- can't call myself a fan -- but this one is pretty good. O Canada, HM... Though this singer sometimes needs to clear his throat. At least they have a healthy sense of humor.
-
"I still feel the same"? not ringing a bell.
"Here In Your Room", Goldfinger (one of my requests, yeah!)
-
VHM BNLs in honor of Peter Finch, who's probably asleep right now.

did Live 105 play that one? (gawd knows KFOG didn't)
-
Shawn Colvin: Meh. One of radical's "unnecessaries", I'm guessing.
-
a royal divorce gets a VHM. as does PG.

It was a fairly decent alternative hit in '96, so it wouldn't surprise me.

REM are taking me to snoozeville.

You must be tired and naked.
I kinda like this one, with the crunchy geetar.
-
OMFG!!! Fugees covering Miss Rubina Flake --- uber BOS1 and proxy "HAAAAY" for sg.
-
oh dear lord, the Peter Gabriel song should not count in 96. It's a remix, yes, but doesn't differ THAT much from the original.
I liked the REM.
Fugees sound good, as does this song after it. Who is this all chillaxin' in my headphones?
-

I've noticed this issue coming up a lot more recently... could it be AL's oh-so-settle protest at the frequency of recent years?
I have a friend who included "The Long And Winding Road" on a 2000-themed concept album. That got my blood pressure rising.
-
I'll BOS the Oasises and their ode to fortified wine, Champipple Stupor Nova

OK, i was interrupted but -- why did she play Isaac Hayes' "Walk on By"?? This oldies-from-movie-sndtks thing (2 days in a row!) is cheating and needs to be nipped in the bud NOW.

Time to post on her page regarding this.

WOS Adam Sandler as Happy Gilmore. Or anyone else.

I disagree. Not the cheating part, because it is, but because if I have to sit through a bunch of late 90's and 00's, AL needs to find ways to get stuff in that I care about.
If you aren't cheatin', you aren't tryin'. -- Al Davis

I was distracted -- did she play the whole song? No one on FB even mentioned it.
-
Fugees aside, this was one annoying set. and it's ENDLESS, apparently.
-
OK, so it wasn't Isaac Hayes it was a song that sampled him.

Not listening, but might it have been "California Love"?

no, she backannounced it -- someone I'd never heard of.

Ouch.
Damned kids and their hippity-hoppity "music"!

This John Oliphant fellow just called some of y'all d-bags on Annalisa's page because of the difference of opinion on playing out-of-year songs. He should look in the mirror.

Mr. Oliphant definitely needs to be put into the generic thread.

"saw-ree....I'm from Boston...where we call a spade a spade"
Yeah, I've seen footage of the anti-busing "protests" from the '70's ::)

I can only attribute Oliphant's outburst to a serious case of blow. Don't do that at home kids!

Shall we Radical Ra(n)tings? :D
Good
A
Barenaked Ladies
Goldfinger
B
Fugees
Shawn Colvin (I guess.)
Hooverphonic
Oasis
Weezer
C
Peter Gabriel (Not digging this dumbed-down, flattened-out version.)
D
Sublime
REM (By this point they'd irrelevized themselves, to the point of no return.)
Necessary
A
Goldfinger
Barenaked Ladies
Fugees
B
Weezer
C
Shawn Colvin (At least it wasn't "Sunny Came Home." "You & the Mona Lisa," although slightly more annoying, would have been more of a 10@10 song.)
Hooverphonic (Sigh...I generally like them, but this particular song is a bit snoozy and really didn't add anything to the set.)
D
Oasis (Ehh...I've heard this enough on Live 105 to last a lifetime.)
Sublime (only because this song is 1996. But regardless it really does not belong on 10@10, or anywhere else anymore for that matter.)
F
Peter Gabriel (You are all so right about this. Ophilantitus FTL.)
REM (2 days in a row, and that's on top of weeks and weeks. Gag me with a spoon x2^wks.)
-

That thing where you apologize for being a jerk by shrugging "I'm not P.C. So sue me," is tired.
I like his profile pic... Perhaps b/c I'm a Mitch Miller fan. :P

That, plus calling people douchebags isn't really "not PC," it's just jerk-ish.

Right...that made no sense. He missed the mark. If you're going to play the "I know it's not PC to say this but blah blah blah..." card, do it right. D-bags are not a protected class.
