Maybe this will be like last week's 1994, which exceeded most expectations.

AL's track record in '86 has been good -- better in the pre-DC era, of course, but just looking at the last 4 '86 sets she's managed bustouts/rarities in each and we've gotten the likes of Human League, Cameo, etc.
OTOH, SRW wants Lionel Ritchie and Phil Collins.

Please, oh please, let AL play some Oran "Juice" Jones!
-
Don't get Chrissie wrong.
hey, the emoticons are animated again! :o
-
Pretenders: Least neccesary of set.
-
BOS1: UB40
-
BOS1: UB40
VHM -- not overly necessary either, sez me.

another that's been played fairly recently by AL. But SRW is gushing.
-
BOS2: Bon Jovi, who I guess are the anti-GNR. Still, we really could use a bustout.
-
BOS Sigue Sigue Sputnik!
-
holee crap: Sigue Sigue Sputnik! Can't honestly say it's a great record but VHM. It's 2nd appearance in the AL era, iirc.
-
Risking RGM's wrath, but I don't know what.#4 is.
-
Sigue Sigue Sputnik, that is what I am talking about. R.E.M.? Meh
-
VHM REM. Good tune. Killer harmonies!
-
R.E.M.? Meh
totally agree. the 2nd half better be bustout-packed.
-
Superman is an awfully bad song, but I have a soft spot for it cause my band used to play it.
-
Hojo! Bustout?
-
BOS HoJo.
-
Hojo! Bustout?
BOS Vinyl? Alt version?
-
Hojo! Bustout?
I don't think it is, but it's rare enuf to feel like one in this set.
-
Notorious: a low-risk bustout?
-
Duran Duran - BO-BO-BOS!
-
Superman is an awfully bad song
well, it's a cover of a cheezy '60s bubblegum ditty, and I'm sure Mr Stipe was tongue-in-cheek.
VHM Note-Note-Note-torious.

Hey, didn't know that. I'll give a BOS for funky Duran Duran Duran Duran Duran. I don't remember this one.
-
Prince's "Kiss" is completely unnecessary -- an uber-trina at this point. Sheesh.

Yes, Smiths! I was only joking when you should have been bludgeoned in the head...
BOS also for Howard Jones.
What do you call a Katrina that is not annoying? Prince's Kiss is that.
Stipe refuses to play Superman now and hates that song.
-
BOS da Smiffs! Would've preferred Cemetry Gates, personally.
-
uber-BOS2 the Smiths, sweetness.
-
BOS for the always creepy Dennis Hopper.
-
BOS3 the Big "O" but playing this is kinda cheating, IMHO
-
Roy Orbison? Like him, but I don't think "1986" from him.
Still, *anything* different is good by me.
-

Indeed. Did it actually chart after Blue Velvet came out? Or is this just wishful thinking on AL's part?

it didn't, but kudos for thinking outside the box (however briefly) this morning, AL.
apparently both the HoJo and the DD were bustouts. Haven't researched the Smiths tune yet.
ETA: "Bigmouth" really did strike again --- not a bustout (Dave's even played it)

BOS Sigue Sigue Sputnik!
I did look up Sigue Sigue Sputnik to see if it was '85 for one of SG's fake requests on IE's fake '85 thread. Nope, but now it shows up on the real life '86 10@10. Um, I think y'all say, "TANC."

Apropos of nothing to do with this set, just wanted to commend HTY on his choice of signature lines. Had to do a double take to make sure I was reading it right, but there it is. Watch where you point that Gun, buddy.
(It's a line from an old Uncle Tupelo song called Gun, if you're not familiar with them or the song. Jeff Tweedy, who wrote this song, went on to become an indie rock messiah in Wilco, which rose from the ashes of UT.)
