That will be my request if she solicits suggestions. I don't think it's been played in the last few H'ween sets.

And the suggestion thread is officially up on FB. The usual suspects, tho' i did ask for Roky Erikson's "I Walked With a Zombie" as well as "Monster Hash".
-
instant BOS Jack Skellington & friends.
-
Here's the best treat of the day so far: the stream switched from the web ads to the live broadcast at the appropriate moment, so those of us listening via the interweb don't have to guess what the set is starting with.
BOS1, Danny Elfman "This Is Halloween." Will we hear any more of his work before the set is out?
-
BOS Thriller... one I never tire of.
-
MJ makes the traditional appearance.
-
BOS2 Addams theme -- altogether ooky!
BOS3 Johnny Otis!
-
They just don't write TV theme songs like this anymore. BOS2 The Addams Family. RIP John Astin--an underappreciated talent if there ever was one.
-
Castin' My Spell on You
Saw Wake The Dead do this last night at Freight and Salvage

KMTP showed his Halloween special again last nite -- horrifyingly awful.
2nd repeat from The Drive: Oingo.

That would be affirmative. BOS3 Dead Man's Party.
-
Ditto on the John Astin shout-out. And I always enjoy "Dead Man's Party", though I've heard it hundreds of times.
-
Castin' My Spell on You
diggit.
last night on Simpson's Treehouse of Horror, the "musical theme by Danny Elfman" credit was re-worked to "musical theme by Half-Elf Half-Man"
haha!
-
spot the vinyl!
-
"Do the Dead"? NTM.
-
Can't say I have ever heard this rendition of "Do the Dead" but whoever the singer is has heard Bryan Ferry a time or two.

Shouldn't Bryan Ferry give Bela Lugosi some credit?
:D

A search of AMG reveals that The Cramps did a song called Surfin' Dead--could it be?
-
I don't think of Strange Brew as a Halloween song, but I guess it could be. If so, Not So Sweet Martha Lorraine would be cool!
-
VHM "Strange Brew".
BOS4 Screamin' Jay -- better than CCR's version by a mile.
-
Screamin' Jay was my request. I hope it's not a Hallotrina.
-

it's like the "jingle bells" of H'ween. Gotta play it.

per a FB comment, apparently that's who it was.
-
"Mash GOOOOOD" --but I've heard it 5 times this weekend already.
"anna shoop, wha-ooo" -- brilliant lyric-writing, there.
-

RGM, one could say that about this song, too, the one against which you so vehemently railed :)
-
"polyunsaturated blood" --WTFF?
those backup singers are dreadful...
-
I love me some Monster Mash, Hash and whatever variations there may be. BOS
Dead Man's Party is one I never have to hear again. *ducks*
BOS2 Bauhaus!

Bela Legosi's Dead
No n-n-no, he's outside looking in.
-
Looking back at last year's list, so far we've had 4 repeats but all of 'em are songs we *need* to hear (the two Elfman tunes, Johnny Otis, and Screamin' Jay).
Make that five--add Bauhaus, although it's not quite the Halloween evergreen that the others are.
-
Alicat lurking and listening. Nothing to bring to the party.
Hiya :)

Of course, I get a work-related email at 10:30. Damn east coasters!

Bela Lugosi's Dead is unoverplayable in my book.

I always heard it as "tennis shoe." Besides, it's background vox; you don't get Dylanesque lyrics in background vox.
-
Bela Lugosi's Dead is unoverplayable in my book.
I'd get carpal tunnel syndrome if I was in this band!

I dunno about that. I'm kinda bored with it about now.

What the frick? "Drops Of Jupiter" as the follow-up? Now, THIS is a song that doesn't ever need to get played again in any context.
-
"this is today's KFOG!"
quick run to turn off the stream!

My thoughts exactly.

Scarier than anything in that set: having to hear Train right after 10@10

An eighth grader in my class said, "I love this song!" as soon as Train came on. Bummer, it's her birthday this week. I had to at least turn it down, though.

What class do you teach where you can play 10@10?

Josh, the standard rules of Katrina-ism get suspended for certain holiday theme sets (Christmas, Halloween, maybe Earth Day, Tax Day, April Fools and Valentines Day). There are too many songs we just NEED to hear to fuss over how often we hear them.

I played it (not Train!) for my advisory, which is not a real class!

FYI DJ Marilynn on KPOO is doing her Halloween thang until noon.

Cool, but yeah, sad about Train.
Last year some students at my son's school (it's a K-8 charter) got together to perform Train's "Hey Soul Sister", with one kid on uke. It was cute enough (4th or 5th graders, I think), but it's a little disconcerting to hear kids singing about their untrimmed chests.
My 2nd grader also knows most of the words to that goddamn song.

Does this mean people actually listen to lyrics of Train songs? Do I have to look it up to know what the song's about? ewww!

well, yes, the reason I hate Train so much is because I *have* listened to their lyrics -- which are god-fucking-awful. "Like a virgin, you're Madonna/And I'm always gonna wanna" --yeesh.

I was a huge fan of them (at one time, I even referred to "Drops of Jupiter" as "pure genius" :-X ) until "Calling All Angels" came out. After that, I started seeing them for what they were and everything retroactively got an F, including DoJ, except for "I Am," "Something More," and "Free," which are D's because they're not innately bad...they're just by Train. I've started being open to giving them another chance, but so far nothing released since has been higher than an F, except for "If It's Love," which for Train circa 2003+ is surprisingly tolerable.

They just don't write TV theme songs like this anymore. BOS2 The Addams Family. RIP John Astin--an underappreciated talent if there ever was one.
Clarification y'all, John Astin ("Gomez" of Addams Family) is still very much alive! He's 81.
I'll catch the set tonight to see how the whole thing sounds, drop-in clips and all. Have a ghoul evening!

I just read the lyrics closely, and there's nothing there. It's just as insipid as I thought it was.

Seriously? Jeez, I am very red-faced. I could have sworn he died a few years back. Glad to be wrong about that, of course. :-[ :-[ :-[
