JJ plays Rhetta Hughes' soul-diva interpretation of "Light My Fire", based on the Feliciano arrangement, and utterly fab.

and it's followed by the even-fabber Jackie Wilson hit "The Sweetest Feeling".

Dear Gawd, 'LNG plays Ferrante & Teicher's "Theme from Midnight Cowboy" -- haven't heard it in ages, and I'm always amazed it was Top Ten nationally, despite flopping on NYC Top 40 radio.

ooo! KPOO's Thursday morning soul show plays the 5-D's forgotten "Paper Cup", and everything is looking up.  I may stick with this instead of subjecting myself to 1998 from AL.

LAWD ha'mercy! Curtis M's "Move On Up" beats anything AL could possibly dig up from '98.  Bite ya lip and take a trip!

followed by Otis' "Lover's Prayer" and Edwin Starr's "S-O-S".

wow, Radio de Sebb plays GoodyGoody's "Number 1 Deejay", a lost disco club classic I haven't heard in decades. Not a great or even good record -- it's sorta like "Best Disco In Town" with all the cover-version-snippets edited out -- but I remember it getting play back in the day.

Prior to her appearance on this week's Klassic Kasem 1972 chart, Miss Millie Jackson does her faboo cover of "If Loving You Is Wrong..." on Radio de Sebb.

"Disco Inferno" gets lots of play lots of places, but it's rare you hear the loooooong version -- here it is on Radio de Sebb, all 11 (?) minutes of it.

Followed by the OMGWTFLOL-of-the-Month: Claudine Longet covering "Ain't No Mountain High Enuf" -- the Diana Ross version, note-for-note and word-for-word -- en francais!!  I am stunned.

LOL!  Sadly, my high-school French has long since left me.

more OMGWTF-ness: here's Bob James' jazzy instrumental "Westchester Lady" from '77 or so -- haven't heard it since then, probably. A friend of mine at our college radio station was dating a girl from Westchester and he used to play this and dedicate it to her nearly every week. Awwww...

and -- Finally! -- it's CeCe Peniston's "Finally". Right in front of my face!

I forget who, but a friend of mine once told me they'd heard her vocal on this track with all the instruments stripped out, and was amazed at how many notes she missed.
