Offshore Radio again: a NTM White Plains obscurity, the sunshiny "I've Got You On My Mind", that Gaz'd like.

Followed by the equally Gaz-tastic Sergio Mendes hit "Pretty World"

The Osmonds are down by the lazy river, digging for Joseph Smith's bones.  Merrill Osmond (or whichever brother sings 2nd lead behind Donny) is really atrocious -- he yells worse than Linda Ronstadt on her worst day.

An hour of JJ's '60s nuggets is just what I need this morning.

Lawd! Clarence Carter's too weak to fight -- ah know jus' how he feels.

followed by the fabulously Fauxtown "Make Me Yours" -- Bettye Swan channeling Mary Wells.

OMFG! David Essex, "Gonna Make You a Star", one of his many delightful UK hits that did nothing on this side of the pond.

Followed by Sandy Posey -- no relation to Buster, I assume.

Smooth Smokey on 'LNG with one of my fave lyrics of his.

Too bad it was him that you trusted
Too bad but you can't be disgusted
It's time that you got readjusted
And realize
That tear filled eyes
Can never stop him now
That man is on his way
I think he's gone to stay
You better drop him now

Offshore radio:

the original version of New York Groove (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7XBDaodo1g) done by a group called "Hello".

hmm, sounds like Ace Frehley just covered it note-for-note.  Still, it's one of Ace's high points -- and I do have his album in my itunes:

Rip It Out   Ace Frehley   3:40
Speedin' Back To My Baby   Ace Frehley   3:37
Snow Blind   Ace Frehley   3:55
Ozone   Ace Frehley   4:42
What's On Your Mind?   Ace Frehley   3:28
New York Groove   Ace Frehley   3:03
I'm In Need Of Love   Ace Frehley   4:38
Wiped-out   Ace Frehley   4:12
Fractured Mirror   Ace Frehley   5:26

Holy crap! Gladstone's "A Piece of Paper" -- a controversial almost-hit from '71 that I haven't heard in ages.

In order to form a more perfect union
A man and a woman become husband and wife
A piece of paper says they'll start a new life
A piece of paper says it's alright

In order to form a more perfect union
Religion will cost a man one tenth of his goal
A piece of paper says he's redeemed his soul
A piece of paper says he's alright

You know paper is only paper and you know people,
Well they'll try to be good
Some folks live by others paper, some folks live like they should
So in order to form a more perfect union
A legal abortion so the family won't know
A piece of paper says the problem won't grow
A piece of paper makes it alright

In order to form a more perfect union
A country will call on it's young men to fight
A piece of paper says it's alright to die!
A piece of paper says it's alright

and it's followed by the great "Captain of Your Ship" by Reparata and the Del-rons!

Wacky Sedaky's "Bad Blood" is preceded by a Neil S soundbite -- gawd he sounds awful these days. Guess he bit off a little bit more than he could chew.

speaking of cringey sounds, Barry Scott has THE MOST deejay-style inflected voice I've heard in a long time.  And his website is awkward at best...

But hey, he's got the largest music library around!

Donny and his bro's do their white J-5 routine.  Ever see that ABC TV-movie about them, where their dad was all upset about the phrase "sock it to ya", which he thought was "dirty"?  Hilarious.

If he'd heard "Undercover Angel" he'd've had a heart attack.

still listening to the first half of Barry Scott's top 100 countdown.  Really dig #66 Chilliwack's My Girl (Gone Gone Gone) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yahBtp_1jWE).

Canadian pop rules, eh?
