Post by: RGMike on June 25, 2009, 08:00:49 AM
cliche of cliches: we begin a '76 set with "Fly Like an Eagle".

"You're My Best Friend" is always a pick-me-up.  BOS.

as Woodward said to Bernstein: "You're my best friend". But neither was as good-looking as Redford.

BOS2 to "Let Your Love Flow."  I insisted for years that Big & Rich would've had a country #1 with a remake of this.

absolutely. I said the same thing 15 years ago about Brooks & Dunn and "My Maria" -- and it actually happened!

BOS ZZT, "Driving While Blind". But Ronnie Milsap did just that in a video once!

ETA: I fear this is the closest we'll get to a rarity.  Least-necessary of Set: Seger in the back seat.

yes, lyrics aren't pulitzer material, but that production!  The intro is amazing.

Ronnie Milsap's come up for me so many times lately I'm expecting him to appear any day now.

even-less-necessary: Macca's live version of "Live & let Die".  in fact, I'll WOS it.

the orig studio version (from the LP of the same name) was a WNEW-FM staple when Frampton was just a "former member of Humble Pie" with a cult following.

we can call this set predictable, but it works for me

Queen YMBF  was always a fave. it picks me up, too, Gaz!
Bellamy Bros was another AM Gold nugget for me.

I didn't really know the Frampton album beyond the two or three radio edits, and I don't recall Something's Happening that well, but it's a good one.  ZZ is the rocker we needed here.

I suppose I could live without Live and Let Die again, but live and let live, I suppose.  Besides, it's live!  Rob get bonus points for that, sitting way up firm and high.

sorry to be Mr Crankypants (moi?) but I could also go a good long time without hearing "Sir Duke" -- so many other great underplayed cuts on this LP.

BOS for "Peter Marshmallow" giving Rochester NY a shout out!  "It's a great town, I was just there!" he said on that closing clip from Hollywood Squares.  I hoped he stocked up on Kodachrome...

For 10 frink points: what is Peter Marshall's real name?

oh, and most-least-necessary: Boston.
