Post by: Tinka Cat on June 12, 2009, 07:12:25 AM
Paul Simon's Diamonds On The Soles of Her Shoes.  Great song..!

KQED was showing a tribute to Paul Simon the other night, w diff artists doing his songs. Ladysmith Black Mambazo came out w Paul to sing this one.  very fun.  (Art showed up later to do Bridge...)

BOS to the Pet Shop Boys' "Suburbia."  This is a different recording than the one I have on a cassette PSB GH comp; Neil's voice sounds faintly gruffer.

Not a huge PSB fan, and I never warmed to this one's sound.  dig the sentiment, though..

I checked wiki and it mentions this:

The bassline of the song is based on "Into the Groove" by Madonna.

The main musical theme of the song is greatly influenced by Chuck Mangione's 1977 jazz-pop track "Feels So Good".

At least you're in time for another stellar Robert Palmer cover.  I just love that pulsing intro.

Indeed. BOS2 -- as I've said before, his taste in covers was as impeccable as his tailoring.
