or so says a post on their 10@10 message board. BTW, Los Angelenos are quite unclear-on-the-concept when it comes to 10@10... I'm reading all these posts complaining about Larry playing "too much sucky disco" (he played "Funkytown" the other day and some folks went mental). Jeez.

Los Angelenos are quite unclear-on-the-concept when it comes to 10@10... I'm reading all these posts complaining about Larry playing "too much sucky disco" (he played "Funkytown" the other day and some folks went mental). Jeez.
looks like Larry responded to the critics a week ago:
love the passion... but... as usual the board's assumptions and speculations are a little off base. I do get to have free reign on the 10@10, though I collaborate closely with Haley our Music Director. (We have a blast doing it, and there is no "formula" or set of rules.) The idea isn't to pick 10 obscure songs...it's a balance of tunes that represents the year - and brings back some memories - including some recognizable hits and the occasional offbeat or deeper track. To me it's the best way to do that feature and the bulk of the listeners are responding quite favorably. As far as the theme days go...that's largely driven by audience response -- listeners impact 80-90% of those picks, with a couple that I just plain wanna hear myself. (Okay...so "Good Vibrations" doesn't mention Summer...but it "says" Summer to me!) Please don't make statements about how we operate, or how I think, as if they're absolutes when you're only making guesses, guys. Thanks!

He'd rather hear some uncommon pleasures in his 10@10, which we all understand, but as Larry explained -- as well as RGM in some exchanges on their board yesterday -- "you gotta take the cheese with the meat."

If you read the comments on that board, tho', they don't just hate the overplayed Cars and Police tracks, they hate disco, Hall & Oates and anything they think doesn't "rock". These people need an ABBA enema.

I would have hoped for Beth Hart's "L.A. Song." And would have replaced the Petty with either the Miracles' "Ain't Nobody Straight in L.A." or the Ides' "L.A. Goodbye."

I actually heard a skate punk singing Under The Bridge to himself when I was in LA last Christmas. ponderous...man.
