Roe v. Wade, Secretariat, et al...
And Brooooce send Greetings From Asbury Park
-
Pre-Cher Gregg and the Allmans doing some Ramblin, now ELO is wailing about their Ma-ma-ma Belle. Someone should tell Bob about that one for his Mothers Day set.
-
BOS to Elton John, "Funeral for a Friend." TANC: On Monday on my blog I compared Procol Harum's prog instrumental "Repent Walpurgis" to this.

BOS, too. I'll have to read your post. don' t know that song by PH.
I also didn't know that Marc Bolan played on ELO's Ma Ma Ma Belle, which Larry just mentioned.

ATBB alert: Seals & Crofts, We May Never Pass This Way Again. Don't think Dave's ever played it. Ginger might have, but I don't remember it.
ETA: At least within the scope of the DB, Seals and Crofts don't appear at all.

HM to this NTM Arts & Crafts song. Yeah, it's schmaltzy, but they are quintessential seventies!

a good example of a "spiritual" song that doesn't hit you over the head with "religion".

I'd say the same for "Higher Ground."

PS: Aside to Mike - Mraz slides from 23 to 25 in his 55th chart week with "I'm Yours." Nyah.

But seriously... when I posted that side-by-side of Mr. A-to-B (his gamut of emotions) and the Devo cover, I had to look at a LOT of pics of li'l Jason. And he's not even remotely good-looking. He's dorky, and not in a good way. (*shudder*)

I can't hear the opening riff from Tubular Bells without shuddering. Not because of The Exorcist, rather because my next-to-last boss at CNET had that as her ringtone, and it would go off numerous times a day, usually when she wasn't in her office but her phone was. And she had many other equally redeeming qualities. Don't miss her AT ALL.
Regardless, another BOS for the Mighty Zep, D'yer Mak'er. Suck it, suck it, suck it...

Rickie Lee Jones did it on her covers album a few years ago.
