Whee! BOS from me to Tyrone Shoelaces! (Sorry I missed "Growing Up," though; I like that one too.)

Larry says George Harrison, Billy Preston, Carole King & Jim Keltner are on this track. I had no idea.

Hmmm...Dream On in '73?
Sure 'nuff, Whitburn says it went to #59 in 73, then went all the way to #6 three years later.

Joni too, iirc -- I *KNOW* we've discussed that here at great length

LA in the early 70s--I shudder to think what the buffet at that session looked like.

*applause* to Mike's graphical segue!

BOS #3 from me, and yet another in the list of songs that rhyme 'California' with 'warn ya'.

VHM "Sail On, Sailor."

Here's one Dave rarely went to, Beach Boys' Sail On Sailor. Meanwhile Brian's at home in his sandbox...

not sure how easy a trivia question this is, but d'ya know who sang lead on "Sail On Sailor"?

Blondie Chaplin -- we've discussed that in this forum before too ;)

Thought so.

VHM2 "Diamond Girl," one of Seals & Crofts' better tunes.
-
More places Dave never went: Seals & Crofts, Diamond Girl. A left-handed shout-out to the late Dan Seals?
-
Looks like there'll be more rain up here, but I'm skeptical if that applies to LA in late March. VHM Showdown.

via his brother.
Now if he plays "Bop" in whatever '80s year it's correct -- THAT would impress me.

Incredibly, there isn't a single Seals & Crofts song in the Db. Wow.

We're supposed to get some this weekend as well. We got enough in late Feb & Early Marchto put a dent in the drought conditions for Nor Cal, but the San Joaquin Valley is still pretty screwed.

Now this one revs my motor. David Lindley tearin' up the slide on JB's Redneck Friend.
"He's the missing link, the kitchen sink, eleven on a scale of ten..."
Piano plinker's not doin' too bad neither.

that is amazing, tho' I'm almost certain he played "DG" and "Summer Breeze" and "Get Closer" in the pre-db days.

The "Soundheads" are as opinionated as we are... a sample post from today:
"Sail On Sailor",....
PT (posted: 2009/03/31 10:34:39)
...an excellent choice from 1973. These are the type of nuggets I want to hear on 10@10 instead of one hit wonder pop songs that were never played on early fm rock stations.

Like Joni Mitchell, but raised on onanism.
"Rosie, you're all right, you wear my ring..."
Methinks Jack likes handing it to himself.

You want to have some fun sometime, read Genesis Ch. 38 (http://usccb.org/nab/bible/genesis/genesis38.htm) for the story of Onan, who was the 2nd son of Judah (and thus the grandson of Jacob, great-great-grandson of Abraham). When you get to the end and Tamar has twins, the one named Perez was the direct patrilineal ancestor of Jesus.
If anyone gives you an argument in favor of Prop 8 that goes something like "I don't want my kids to be taught blah blah blah," just ask them, "Do you let your child read the book of Genesis? I think gay marriage is a lot easier to explain than chapter 38." I myself have done this.
