uh-oh, Bob in the '80s. Bring me a higher love. And a corned beef on rye.

That'd be a Chaka-delic deli.

WOS Seger, like a schlock.

Seger, the pre-Chevy incarnation of "Like a Rock".

Surprised Kid Rock never sampled this one. (AFAIK.)

harsh, dude. I think (later sellout aside) it's a compelling song; I'm guessing if you were approaching middle age in 1986 this one really hit home. And now that Bruce is in bed with WalMart, all the rockers Dave Marsh criticized in the '80s & '90s should get an apology from him.

it's in a bootleg track from his Pam Anderson wedding album, "Like My Cock"

Mr Cray gets a busy signal; his woman just gets busy.

Mr Hornsby before his sound became a cliche. VHM "Mandolin Rain"
-
Van Hagar get higher and higher -- "That's What Dreams are Made Of" always sounded like it was written to be the follow-up to "Jump"; one of the few Hagar-era VH tunes I can totally imagine Diamond Dave doing.

AAAAAAACK! WOS Boston, "Amanda". Truly worthless.
-
BOS REM, "Fall on Me".
As Bob's '80s sets go, not that bad; certainly a decent snapshot of AOR that year. But what I'd've given for some pop-soul from MJ, JJ or Jermaine Stewart.

Steve Winwood - Higher Love
Bob Seger - Like a Rock
Peter Gabriel - Steam
Robert Cray - Smoking Gun
Bruce Springsteen - Thunder Road (live)
Paul Simon - Graceland
Bruce Hornsby - Mandolin Rain
Van Halen - Dreams
Boston - Amanda
R.E.M. - Fall on Me
Tomorrow: a good day to get up early for 10 from the Mighty Zep (Page's B-day)!

Peter Gabriel - Steam
Bob made a major mis-play on this one--it came out on the album after PG's '86 release--a mere six years later. Must have hit the wrong button on the computer.

ooops! I didn't even catch that -- I often confuse "Steam" with "Big Time"; guess Bob did too.
